This was followed by some of the most relaxing spa treatments I’ve ever experienced, starting with a four hands massage—two perfectly synchronized therapists working me over at once. There were mud baths in a heated water bed, and a hot stone massage on a sand bed accompanied by a sound bath. We floated in a mineral-enriched salt pool (our salt pool full of laughs, as we called it). But our number one favorite was the Welcome Hammam foaming salt scrub atop a warmed marble table. (“Calgon, take me away” doesn’t even begin to describe it.) Whew! At the end of each day, we were walking happy noodles, comparing treatment notes as we rejoined the world.

The town is composed of two different inhabited centers: Fiuggi City which is the nucleus of the oldest settlement and the most modern Fiuggi Fonte, inserted in the thermal area. Fiuggi, originally called Anticoli di Campagna, gained fame as early as the 14th century, when Pope Boniface VIII claimed his kidney stones had been healed by the mineral waters from the nearby Fiuggi spring. Two centuries later Michelangelo also extolled the virtues of the water that cured him of what he called "the only kind of stone I couldn't love." Soon Acqua di Fiuggi was being sent in bottles to all of Europe's royalty. Not until the turn of the 20th century did it become fashionable to make pilgrimages to spa towns, and it was around this time that the King of Italy renamed Anticoli in honor of its most celebrated attraction - The Fiuggi Water. [3] On-Premise and Office Boardroom Waters (such as Whitehole Springs, Sole Arte, Hildon, Belu, Deeside etc...), Fiuggi Water is known for its health benefits, thanks to certain 'humic substance' components. It's been proven to help break down and flush out kidney stones, as well as improve kidney function. Additionally, it aids in removing metabolic waste and may help cleanse the kidneys by eliminating toxins through the urinary tract system. Many people in Italy, particularly older generations, believe that Fiuggi Water can help with gout, uric acid, and even boost metabolism. Taylor, E.N.; Curhan, G.C.
