This is a creature build first and foremost, and you slowly build Bowser up limb by limb – Bowser’s shell is a treat to build, and I’m amazed at how the design team got the angles to fit in so incredibly well. Few video game characters are as immediately recognisable as Bowser, placing considerable expectation on this model. Fortunately, the popular King Koopa looks absolutely stunning! This figure most closely resembles the villain's design from 2007 onwards, combining rounded facial features with his ever-present spiked shell and horns. You can tell that a lot of care and attention went into the shell design, and being able to introduce the ogive element for this specific purpose was just the thing needed to get Bowser’s shell as accurate as possible at this scale. This must have been at least twenty years ago though. Would be interesting to know if LEGO still has such a program. Bowser stands on a base which takes advantage of the myriad of shapes now available in dark stone grey tiles, providing the appearance of a gravel path with stepping stones.
