About this deal

Hawthorne House is a sprawling mansion of hidden passageways and dark secrets. The more time Avery spends there, the more she becomes convinced that the will, the letter she received alongside it, and the house are all clues to something bigger; that Tobias Hawthorne is playing a game from beyond the grave. soooo we’re gonna just break my traditional review structure and just mash everything together because 1) I can’t say a lot without serious spoilers (i’m literally not joking there is so much mystery and drama that MUST NOT be spoiled) and 2) I have no self control when it comes to my dark, cold, businesslike Grayson Hawthorne 😍 i cant say without wither spoiling or getting mad so… just know that its a shit ton of mystery duh and uhhh good plot twists but it was all crammed at the ending and was too much that it got messy i can see that," nash replied softly. "but if you decide you'd like to give me a name? i'd take it."

I had no idea what the plot was going into this book. Then when I began reading the book, I was like “wait- is there even a plot?” So confused. Then I eventually got around to reading the blurb thingy, and I was like [say in extremely dull tone] “oh.” I judged this book by the title, and I was expecting the characters to have to play a riddle and puzzle game to win the inheritance Tobias Hawthorn left behind. Which definitely would have been more interesting than *waves hands around in the air* whatever this was. Overall, I loved this!! I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a fun mystery with great plot twists & an awesome cast of characters. I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel! 😁💖 Nash: Level of annoyingness: 8/10 Brother numero uno. The oldest one. He has this aura about him that makes you want to cringe and die inside. and not in a melt-your-heart kind of good way. Just, eww. (I legit thought his name was Nate until 5 minutes ago) He also just is very complex and has many layers and is the most realistic character or most lifelike to me, and I feel like the author really didn’t spend as much time with him in this book as she should have to make him get even more depth. That being said he’s still mysterious and I adore him <3just why exactly did this book feel like half of it was avery trying to figure out what boy she wanted. im still confused like…. you have all this crazy shit going on and people are trying to kill you and youre trying to figure out who you see standing on a cliff with you when you close your eyes?? Meanwhile, Libby and Nash are in Connecticut trying to locate “Harry.” They do not find him, but they do encounter another homeless man who gives them a note from “Harry” to Avery, which says: STOP LOOKING.

Avery Grambs is a common girl with a common YA life: absent parents, average girl with average appearance, a really smart student. So, everything's fine here. Until one day, she's summoned to Hawthorne House because it turns out that Avery inherits all the money that Tobias Hawthorne has in his will. A random girl with no connection or memories of Tobias Hawthorne is inheriting his entire fortune, like 100B dollar. (Holy shit, the amount of books that I'd buy with that money!) I found this book absolutely delightful. Exactly the fast-paced, entertaining escape I was looking for! The Hawthorne Legacy was one of my most anticipated releases of 2021, just like The Inheritance Games was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020. There’s a lot to love about this duology; from the character dynamics to how it constantly keeps you on your toes. It also requires a lot of brain power (not really, but if you’re like me and live in detective mode then you better pay attention to EVERYTHING).

Select a format:

the young adult threshold for personality is in HELL. all you need to do is give your teenage main character a vaguely tragic past, enough stubbornness to allow her to mildly bump heads with love interests every once in a while, a weakness for hot emotionally unavailable rich boys, and a best friend of color to carry things (for flavor).
