About this deal

AllWays Soft (Texize...softener which you could use in the wash, rinse or dryer...you used more in the wash than the rinse, and squirted it onto a washrag and tossed it into the dryer--late 70s) I can't think of the name, but she also used a liquid detergent for mopping and it had a really strong smell. It was called the white tornado in a bottle and that's all I can remember. Can anyone help me out with that one. Tide, Gain and Cheer's original fragrances from the 60's (Cheer's fragrance didn't change until the late 80's. The real original Tide fragrance changed in the early 70's when all that phosphate unpleasantness started and Gain's changed once in the 80's, again in the 90's and many more times since) Persil Automatic - 80s/Early 90s - My Gran used to have a big box of Persil Automatic and wash the teatowels/bartowels in her Bendix/Zanussi

Snuggle was positioned as lower priced offering compared to Downy and Final Touch. Latter's claim to fame against Downy wasn't so much softening but whitening. Unguentine Spray (for insect bites, cuts, scrapes and sunburn. There's a mention of it on "I Love Lucy" in "The Fashion Show" episode)Costco's "Clout" bargain powder, also with phosphates, which worked very well. When they pulled the phosphates out, it performed poorly. The American Cleaning Institute in a statement said, "Manufacturers are continuing their work to provide even more science and research to fill data gaps identified by FDA."

She used Babo (sp?) and after it was no longer available around here she started using Comet, but we contined to call scouring powder Babo no matter what the brand. Funny thing is I saw Babo (liquid) in the dollar store recently. For a real taste of home, browse our Puddings and Desserts section and get tempted by all of the delicious food that you could have delivered to your door. Remember Angel Delight? Nothing could taste more nostalgic than this lovely whipped dessert and we sell so many different flavours! Ambrosia Devon Custard is another family favourite along with Ambrosia Semolina, Ambrosia Creamed Rice, Ambrosia Rice Pudding and Ambrosia Tapioca (remember that from school lunches?!). For that special occasion you will probably do what we do in the UK and go to your higher end supermarket to get that lovely treat to make your day. We recommend the fabulous Marks and Spencer Salted Caramel Sauce to add that special something to your ice cream or their White Chocolate Fudge Sauce - a real favourite of our grandchildren! Waitrose too can offer you those sweet treats - try their Seriously Chocolatey Dipping Sauce which is simply heavenly! Radion's story is featured in a book I have called "brand failures - the truth about the 100 biggest branding mistakes of all time" authored by Matt Haig. Cinch (P&G dishwashing liquid, late '80s, with grit in it for scrubbing, test marketed in Kansas City). unusual swing spout (instead of push/pull). Later name resurrected as a window cleaner (mid 90s) I forgot about Clorox Detergent. I was working in the LA area and apparently it was past test market but not national so every time i went to California, I would stuff some boxes in my luggage. I still have one box left securely wrapped in plastic. It was a pretty good product and low sudsing to boot with a great fragrance.Solarcaine (used mainly for sunburn, it was manufactured by Plough, who also made Coppertone products) Though Lever Bros. hadn't intended for Snuggle FS to cannibalize sales from Final Touch, in many markets that is exactly what happened. Many of the brand in this section have failed because they were too far away from what the consumer wanted, but sometimes products fail because they aren't different enough from other popular products. This is certainly the case of Radion washing powder. Along with Pear's soap, Radion was one of the many brands for the chop when the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate announced it would be narrowing its scope on 400 'power' brands. Would like to know about any discontinued detergents, additives, stain sprays etc that you remember which are now discontinued, here is my list. Ariel & Radion - TV adverts centred around science and men in white coats, marketed towards stains, smells, target audience DINK's - Double Income No Kids and families who were well off.

Companies will no longer be able to market antibacterial washes with these ingredients because manufacturers did not demonstrate that the ingredients are both safe for long-term daily use and more effective than plain soap and water in preventing illness and the spread of certain infections," the FDA said.Surf and Bold, marketed as cleaning well on the whole wash and costing a little less, not specifically aimed at any market group but definitely VFM.

Blue" Rain Drops Water Softener (don't know who made it, but it was an "economy" version of Calgon) In 2013, the regulator issued a proposed rule asking manufacturers to provide it with data on the safety and effectiveness of ingredients like triclosan and triclocarban, including clinical studies showing these products were superior to non-antibacterial washes in preventing human illness or reducing infection. Unilever's final decision was to amalgamate Radion into its brand, and it continues under the banner Surf Fun Fresh.

Shield Cleansing White

R.M.Gow's-powerful,hardworking washing powder which gives you real value for money.-I kid you not that entire sentence was its full name. Radion when it was first brought out in the UK circa 1989 was actually Levers TOL detergent. I hadnt realsied this until we got a copy of the Which report from when it first came out.
