[S] I wonder if the murky world of the internet, which has taken over culture in the 20 years since Teletubbies landed, plays any part in his writing. Davenport says Moon and Me had to be versatile to different formats, and accepts that lots of viewers will be watching on phones and tablets. Teletubbies was actually conceived as a way of helping children understand the new world of screens, but it seems almost quaint compared to the technology today. What does Davenport make of it?

The Surprising Carrot. Pepi Nana finds a plate of toy carrots on the table in the Toy House, and Mr Onion shares a book about carrots with Dibillo. Also in HD. [S] Colly Wobble's Suitcase. Colly Wobble takes a suitcase full of special things from her friends into Storyland. Also in HD. [S] Moon Baby in the Tub! Everybody is quietly reading books when the little toy tub appears. [S] Davenport’s ideas were pretty radical at the time – incorporating the likes of Jean Piaget and Noam Chomsky into his surreal stories – but that didn’t stop people criticising Teletubbies. Stephen Byers, the schools minister at the time, even said it represented a “dumbing down” of British culture, due to its supposedly unintelligible language. “I think the rigour in which it was constructed was largely missed,” he says. Mr Onion is Ready to Help! Mr Onion rides out on the Bumparoller to help all of those around him. Also in HD. [S]After discovering two paper crowns, Pepi Nana and Little Nana decide to be the Big Princess and the Little Princess. In Storyland the Little Princess goes to visit the Big Princess in her Big Castle, where she enjoys the biggest tea she has ever had. Everything Smells Lovely.
