The forbidden element was really honed in on, the angst was beautifully torturous, I loved that Bridget really took on the role of being a future queen. I wish we had more of that. And I loved that the age-gap wasn’t an issue. I mean, they had bigger shit to deal with but it never felt like a hindrance because our two main characters were so in tune with one another. Plus it helped that Bridget was actually mature.But next to being hilarious, I also loved the chemistry between Ava and Alex. It was easy to see that Ava really liked Alex from the start. She always sees the best in people. But Alex’s character was much harder to get to know. And I loved how his tough exterior slowly melted through Ava’s influence. But even in a highly secured building, Stella is not safe from her stalker and Christian intends to do something about it. Wrapped up in messy lies and family troubles, we get to see them face challenges together. Once I got my hands on her, she’d be filthy. Broken. Just like everything I touched. But she’d be mine. And I was selfish and cruel enough that I’d take her with me while I burned down the world. I hated how much I wanted her, and I hated that she wasn’t smart enough to run away from me while she still had a chance. Along with that, I felt like the twists were predictable. I liked the mystery they added to the plot, but guessing the twists ruins the story for me. Adding on to that, it made the story drag a little. First, it felt like I was reading a romance story, then I was suddenly entering crime scenes with hints of suspense. The first half was better than the second half, in my opinion, although the groveling in the ending made up for it. She’s the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can’t solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can’t refuse.
