[12] Godrich wanted Yorke's voice to be "dry and loud", without the reverb and other effects used on Radiohead records. [12] Yorke found it difficult to write lyrics to loops, saying he could not "react spontaneously and differently every time", so he translated the parts to guitar and piano and generated new elements in the process. [7]

Like sleeping on freshly-washed sheets in a night storm, there's something strangely comforting about the sparse, breathy electronics on The Eraser. The layered production typical of producer Nigel Godrich is on full-force here, but there's an added element of silence at play, a sensibility for quiet, a cleanliness clearly audible in the untouched vocals and the muted instrumentation. It's not a record without loud moments, and Godrich doesn't shy away from his signature "woosh" effects as the songs build up, but there's a distinct loneliness in The Eraser. Yorke whispers, menacingly at times, but under his breath. You could easily imagine him playing every instrument, recording every vocal, alone in a room with grey denim walls and stark white furniture. This is a headphone album in the purest sense: a piece of technical precision, where no sound, no beat is taken for granted, and a new element emerges with each repeat listen, like a birthmark you hadn't noticed before.Thom Yorke's No Match For Chamillionaire, Kelly Clarkson In Billboard Race". MTV News . Retrieved 3 May 2015. Yorke wrote "Harrowdown Hill" about David Kelly, a whistleblower who died after telling a reporter that the British government had falsely identified weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Kelly's body was found in the Harrowdown Hill woods near Yorke's former school in Oxfordshire. [12] According to The Globe and Mail, the song resembles a love song with a sense of "menace" and "grim political showdown". [7] Yorke was uncomfortable about the subject matter and conscious of Kelly's grieving family, but felt that "not to write it would perhaps have been worse". [7] He described it as the angriest song he had ever written. [20] Artwork [ edit ] Part of London Views, the album artwork created by Stanley Donwood. Funny off kilter piano lines. "Hey, I've got this new piano line but I want people to think I'm original.""Hm, have you tried recording it to CD and scratching the disc up real bad and seeing how that sounds?""No, I haven't, thanks Aphex Twin for the advice which I'll borrow until I can think on my own for a minute." a b Petridis, Alexis (7 July 2006). Thom was with his partner Dr. Rachel Owen for 23 years. They had two children: Noah, born in 2001 and Agnes, born in 2004. The pair separated amicably, with Yorke saying: "It's perfectly amicable and has been common knowledge for some time." Sadly, Owen passed away on 18 December 2016, after losing her battle with cancer. Since 2017, Yorke dated Italian actress Dajana Roncione and the pair married in September 2020. I felt very sad listening to the song but I couldn't give it some solid meaning. eaten by the worms, thank you so much, I realized why it was. Its a love song. I cant believe thom can write love songs still, he's married, not to mention.
