The same study also found that the addition of thermal water to the cream also decrease the amount of inflammation-causing bacteria on the affected skin.

Wang YS, Chen JS, Chen L (2009) Tracing groundwater with strontium iso-topic compositions in the Hexi Corridor Basin, Northwestern China. Adv. Water Resour. Hydraul. Eng:184–187 (in Chinese with English abstract) Also, because of the unique mineral composition, I find this mist is really calming and works to take redness out of the skin. Definitely call on it next time you’ve overdone it on actives (because we’ve all been there).

As mentioned before, I use pure thermal water as the first-step face mist in my skincare routine, and this particular product does a great job of hydrating and prepping my skin for the next step. It not only removes the residues (if any) left by the cleanser but firms the skin also while providing a healthy look. I use another hydrating face mist followed by a moisturizer to complete my skincare routine. There are a handful of peer-reviewed studies that show that thermal waters have beneficial effects. Unfortunately, almost all of them are performed by the companies themselves, and naturally they show that their product is better than the others, so they should be taken with a grain of salt. (It’s kind of unavoidable though – independent scientists aren’t going to get funding for studying water when there’s cancer to be cured and climate change to undo.) The two best-studied thermal waters are Avène and La Roche-Posay. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that their products are better, it does mean that their effects are more substantiated, for now.
