Review: I'm not gonna lie this cover is what first drew me into this book! Um...HELLO!šŸ˜ Then I kept seeing such good things about it, add in the Single Dad trope(which I am LOVING right now), and I knew I had to dive in! This is my favorite K. Bromberg book to date! Vince and Bristol always had an undeniable chemistry, a loved thatā€™s survived every since high school, but thereā€™s things that have kept them apartā€¦things in his past that caused there distance for years and years, Bristol's regrets were buried not only in the past but in the present and quite possibly the future, but Vince's regrets go deeper. From a father who never loved him enough, to a mother that left when he was young, Vince vowed never to be like them and letting go of Bristol to protect her was the only option. I remembered Vince from reading Sweet Ache quite some time ago, so I was excited to listen to the audio version of this book, narrated by Ryan West and Stella Hunter. Both narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, conveying, the emotion, angst, and the passion well. I just struggled with both the MCs a bit on this one. Theyā€™re supposed to be pushing 30, but they act like they regressed to their teen years. While I understand the original decision she made and the circumstances around it, she continues to harbor a secret longer than she should, and he gets mad about a situation that he basically caused, and just does a lot of frustrating things. Yes, they had blazing hot physical chemistry, but sometimes it felt like thatā€™s all that mattered to him. Vince finally blossomed when he learned about his child, and thatā€™s when he really started to evolve for me. I enjoyed the glimpses of Hawkin and the rest of Bent, and little Jagger was definitely a scene stealer. While not my favorite K. Bromberg book, Iā€™m glad I opted to go the audio route, because that adds another layer to the experience. I canā€™t wait to see what she comes up with next!āļøāļøāļøāļø Itā€™s just Vince and me facing each other in the darkness of my room, both hands holding on to each otherā€™s. But when he shifts and the moonlight hits his face, I can see the bruise on his cheek. I notice his red-rimmed eyes, and for the first time ever, I hope itā€™s from the alcohol and not from crying.

I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever read a secret-baby trope before, but since weā€™ve already established Iā€™m here to see the show, I was definitely eating it up. Jagger is also just the cutest kid ever. Those scenes at the lake house were my absolute favorite. I loved seeing the bond he shared with Bristol and eventually, Vince. Donā€™t even get me started on that epilogue. It sealed the deal for me. Put together a woman with secrets and a dangerous past, and a protector at heart, and you should get an intense romantic suspense. Insteadā€“and itā€™s an arguable choice but not out of placeā€“the author chooses to focus on Tennyson and Crewā€™s relationship. Scenes of domesticity, or the way Crew slowly opens up to Tennyson and she pushes him to mingle more with the townsfolk.I hadn't realised that the book before this , Sweet Ache , has been on my TBR and kindle since 2015. Early morning: Some people find that reading in the morning helps them start their day with a positive and productive mindset. First of all, it bears mentioning that the name Crew DOES THINGS TO ME. And the MMC of this book is worthy of this sexy af name šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

imo they treat the mmc (vince) like a child and let him get away w so much. he treated his best friend like crap and barely apologized to him and the best friend just brushes it under the rug like nothing happened. Welcome to Shh... [Smut, Heroes & HEAs], a reader group dedicated to contemporary Romance & Erotica. I will not lieā€¦I hated Vince, I hated him for more then 90% of the story, his reasonings as sad as they wereā€¦didnā€™t feel like enough of a reason to continue to abandon her, he claimed to love her when I saw non of it in his actions.Heā€™s been like this before when whatever happens at his house . . . happens. Heā€™s come to me not wanting to talk but needing my company. Heā€™s come to me with a swollen cheek or busted lip but has refused to explain other than to play it off with a ā€œyou shouldā€™ve seen the other guyā€ type of comment. Overall, this book frustrated me for the most part, but I was definitely entertained and couldnā€™t put it down šŸ˜† I think I would still recommend it to someone who enjoys the tropes of this book and is also a fan of high angst. And even though this was my first book by this author, I would still be open to trying another one in the future šŸ„°

Triggers: View Spoiler Ā» he was a manwhore while they were apart and that really upsets some readers Ā« Hide Spoiler What is it, Vince? What are you not telling me?ā€ That panic resurfaces, clawing its way up my throat. sweet regret was an emotionally charged, heartbreakingly beautiful second chance romance with an abundance of feels. i couldnā€™t get enough of bristol and vince and of their whirlwind of a well fought second chance. they both deserved all the happiness in the world and iā€™m so glad they made it through. I loved the Synopis of this book. But this was utterly disappointing to me. This was the first time that I believed, that the h was correct in hiding her pregnancy from the H. Because if this was real, and I was her, I would've done the same. šŸ™„šŸ™„

Surprisinglyā€“or notā€“the man who lives next door, her landlord, the guy sheā€™s falling for, helped by his twin girls, is a police officer. Crew is a nice guy, but he knows what he wants, and he wants Tennyson. He has a tragic past too, personal and professional, and keeping the people he cares about safe is his priority. See where itā€™s going?

My Dadda loves me more than the world, but he wasn't ready to handle all this awesomeness." Jagger says with a sheepish but bittersweet smile on his face. "Maybe someday." She had a secret sheā€™s keeping from him, somethingā€”or someone, that she needs to keep in mind, jagger was such a cutie, I truly understood why she didnā€™t tell him when they met again, Vince was so toxic. The flags were burning red. But once again, I donā€™t love the drama, it loves me. That being said, you need to go into this with an open mind just for the prospect of enjoying it. There was a little character redemption for him at the end, but only after he learns about Bristolā€™s secret. So if that is an aspect you wonā€™t be able to look over, then it may not be the read for you. The angst is strong in this one for sure, so be prepared. But, it was good, productive angst, ya know? Both of them have so much to handle, but the love is there. Gah just thinking about the story has me tearing up a bit! They are not perfect people, and their lives have been messy and ugly. That is all part of what makes their story beautiful though. While sometimes their past decisions were frustrating, it was realistic. Life is messy. Your different is your beautiful, Shug. It always has been for me. It always will be for me.ā€ ā€” Sweet Regret by K. Bromberg

Sweet Regret Summary

Something is different when their paths cross this time. Both are holding tightly to secrets that threaten to tear them apart. Isnā€™t that always how their story has gone? I scramble for what to say as he looks at me with a resigned determination I donā€™t understand . . . and donā€™t think I want to.
