About this deal

Ultimately, while the AU7100 certainly can't hold a candle to a top OLED or QLED, it's superb for its price. There are truly outstanding 4K TVs available with four times the amount of pixels as their 1080p predecessors. On top of that, they boast the latest and greatest screen technology. All of that adds up to the ultimate in viewing experiences, no matter what you choose to watch. Quite frankly, you’ve never seen your favorite shows or anything from around the world so vividly from the comfort of your couch. If you're buying a TV below 32 inches and can save a lot of money on a Full HD model, by all means go for it (4K won't be a huge benefit at that sort of size anyway), but otherwise 4K is both worthwhile and, in all likelihood, your only option. Should you buy an HDR TV? Said picture performance features the sort of stunning contrast that only OLED can deliver, and the C3 is much punchier than rivals such as the Sony A90K. Colours are vibrant but natural, and there's plenty of subtlety to shading. The increased pixel density of having a 4K resolution crammed into a 42-inch display makes for superb sharpness and solidity, too. Of these two 'dynamic' HDR formats, Dolby Vision is by far the most prevalent, both in terms of TVs and content, and if you have to choose between one and the other, that's the one we'd recommend. That said, you can now buy TVs from the likes of Philips and Panasonic that support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The TCL 4 Series Roku TV delivers phenomenal value for the price. This 4K TV often sells for less than you’ll find bargain 1080p TVs. It has good color accuracy and supports HDR10 —but not Dolby Vision —for improved contrast. It uses Roku’s system software, which we think provides one of the best smart TV experiences available and has plenty of apps to choose from. We found it had a low lag time of 14 milliseconds during testing too, so this set also will handle fast-paced gaming well. This is a brilliantly detailed and sharp performance, too, and Sony's processing includes a feature that automatically enhances the depth of the image, resulting in excellent solidity and three-dimensionality. On the subject of processing, Sony's motion-handling is still peerless, smoothing panning shots and fast action without introducing any unnaturalism. Sound quality is often a concern with slim TVs, but the TCL 43P639K surprises in this department. Thanks to Dolby Digital Plus technology, the audio is clear and sufficiently loud. However, for a truly immersive experience, consider investing in a soundbar or external speakers. Currently, three HDMI connections is standard on budget and mid-range TVs, while four is the norm for premium models. One of the standout features of the Cello ZG0234 TV is its smart Android TV platform, which provides easy access to a vast array of streaming services, including Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV. The TV also comes with a built-in Google Chromecast, allowing you to cast your favorite content from your smartphone or tablet to the TV. The Freeview Play feature lets you catch up on missed shows and even record programs for later viewing.

Overall, the Cello ZG0234 43″ Smart Android TV is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality television with a wide range of features. The TV’s smart Android TV platform provides easy access to a variety of streaming services, while the built-in Google Chromecast and Google Assistant add to the TV’s functionality. The TV’s sleek design and intuitive remote control make it easy to use, and the Freeview Play feature ensures that you can catch up on missed shows and record programs for later viewing. Testing a TV is a long and complex process because a modern TV simply does so much. Not only does it need to handle a variety of content resolutions – standard-def, 1080p, 4K and sometimes 8K – and both standard dynamic range and high dynamic range (the latter in a number of formats), all of which need to be specifically tested, it also has a sound system with various advanced settings and a full smart platform. A TV is an all-in-one device in the best sense, but that also makes it a challenging review proposition. HDR10+ is a rival format to Dolby Vision. Created by Samsung, it also uses dynamic metadata but, whereas Dolby Vision is licensed, HDR10+ is a free, open format that any company can deploy as it sees fit. The best upper mid-range 43-inch TV we've tested is the Samsung QN43QN90CAFXZA. It's an impressive TV overall, andthesmaller 43-inchsize offers a few extra features for PC gamers, including a higher 144Hz refresh rate on all four of its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports. This allows for smoother motion handling than comparable 120Hz displays. It delivers an impressive gaming experience but has a noticeably slower response time than the LG C3 OLED, so you'll see more blur and ghosting around fast-moving objects if you play fast-paced games. A 40-inch TV should come with 4K resolution, but you'll be able to see the benefits more clearly on a larger size. We find that a 40-inch TV is a pretty decent size for a single viewer not sitting too far away, but for a family or group of flatmates it's not ideal.

HD Tuner DVB-T/T2/C/S/S2 (MPEG4 + 10-bit HEVC/H.265)

In the ever-evolving world of television technology, a 43-inch TV is often a popular choice for those seeking a balance between screen size and space efficiency. The UK market continually offers a wide array of options, each boasting unique features and innovations to enhance your viewing experience. It's worth remembering that 40-inch screens, while once the pinnacle of high-end TV tech, are now considered a small size compared to many other TV displays. Operating system: 40-inch, 42-inch and 43-inch TVs didn't always come with a smart TV operating system in the past but they often do now. What you're looking for, ideally, is a well-maintained operating system like Roku TV, LG's webOS or Samsung's Tizen operating system. If you go with a TV that uses a proprietary operating system (basically an operating system exclusive to that one TV) you might have some serious issues down the road. Not sure how to choose what 40-inch, 42-inch or 43-inch TV is for you? While the options might feel overwhelming, it's worth considering what we think about when recommending TVs here on TechRadar. The design of a TV may not affect its performance, but it can affect how it looks in your home. Look for a TV with a slim profile and thin bezels for a sleek and modern look. Brand reputation

The Samsung Q60C QLED is a decent TV from Samsung and an alternative to the Sony X85K and Roku Select Series. Unfortunately, the Sony is much better overall for about the same price, and the far cheaper Roku TV is a tad better overall. We use all of these objective test results to make comparisons about quality and performance between different TVs, but our evaluation doesn't end there. We also spend hours with each set, watching shows and movies, and using carefully selected video samples to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each set and help us tell you which TVs look and sound the best in a real home viewing environment. If you're wondering whether there's a replacement for the A90K on the way, there isn't at this stage. While 2022's A80K and A95K models have been replaced (with the A80L and A95L respectively), the 42-inch and 48-inch A90K models are remaining in Sony's TV lineup for an extra year. Want terrific picture quality, but you don’t have room for a full-size TV? The A90K will (literally and figuratively) brighten up any room, and is a major offering that should not be dismissed merely because of its minor size.
