Description

After getting past the lame excuses of how Claire found herself in Morganville (and remained there as for that matter), the plot became interesting, atmospheric and surprisingly dark with lots of action and some twists that I didn’t see coming. Her roommates take her in after she promises not to cause any trouble for them. They warn her not to leave the house, but she has to go to… you know, to class and all, so she doesn’t take their warning to heart. Once in campus, the mean girls grab her again, and so Claire calls her roommates to come to her rescue (HUH?)

Alas, because her parents are criminally stupid (and apparently enjoy setting fire to money) they sent her to Texas Prairie University, after allowing her to apply to MIT, Yale, Harvard, (and a slew of other high power schools) and getting her acceptance letters to said schools. Apparently they want to keep their sixteen-year-old baby close to home, but living in the dorm of a notorious party school. The Lowdown: Great book even though I was afraid that the series was reaching a point where a long series starts to dry out. Boy, I was wrong. Although it may not live up to its predecessors, it lived up to my standards. This is a short review because not very much new stuff happened. Anyway, good book. I LOVE MORGANVILLE. And everyone living in it. for rendering fairly logical vampires. Can't go out in daylight, have to be invited into a house, etc; it rings true with most of the older vamp mythos I've encountered, and any deviations (AMELIE, I'm looking at you) were explained in ways that, while they do seem a little deus ex machina, I can deal with. (I should mention here that no, I'm not an expert on vampire mythology, but I have read Dracula.) The Morganville Vampires is a series of young adult urban fantasy/ vampire novels written by Rachel Caine. The novels feature Claire Danvers, a student at Texas Prairie University, and her housemates in the vampire-controlled city of Morganville, Texas. [1] While the mayor of Morganville is human, the population co-exist with a group of vampires. [2] Morganville is also home to an unusually large number of second-hand thrift stores. [3]

The Morganville Vampires Series Order

I really like the human detectives Lowe and Hess. They helped me to believe that all is not corrupt amongst the humans living in Morganville. There is hope that humans can help each other, aren't afraid to try and do the small bit they can. for being written by Rachel Caine, right off the bat. I genuinely enjoyed Ill Wind; it was a creative, rip-roaring five-chapter venture into a new kind of urban fanatasy, and it was cool. I didn't even mind the hot tub scenes, and the ending was acceptable. I've also read one of Ms. Caine's short stories set in Morganville, in an anthology, and thought it was interesting and that I'd like to know more about the series. Houses similar to Claire's own, these houses are located throughout Morganville. They are connected to each other through Ada, Myrnin's invention that keeps up memory barriers in town (later replaced by Frank Collins, Shane's father). Amelie often makes her appearances in these houses in the early novels. Houses referred to in the novels include the Glass house, the Day house, and Claire's parents house. In "Kiss of Death" Claire and her friends are going on a trip outside of Morganville to Dallas. Their scope is to record Michale's CD but think they start complicating from the moment they leave town with Oliver in the car. Things become even worse when they get in Texas waiting for Oliver to resolve some of his problems. They realized that this was not a town for them and Michale has not the power over human with his words that he use to have in Morganville. Drama Queen's Last Dance" in Eternal: More Love Stories with Bite and Midnight Bites (2016, ISBN 978-1101989784)

It’s a nice story, with a crew of likable, down to earth characters, who were being pushed through one deadly situation after another. The troubles which the residents in the Glass House had gotten themselves into are too many that it is almost humorous (in a good way). And I really like how the author wrote her vampires, they were brutal, cunning and at some point very cold blooded, but their characters were built that way with reasons, and you soon can tell the truly evil ones from the rest. The vampires aren’t all bad but they are not humans’ harmless best friends either. I think it’s what made Rachel Caine’s novels realistic If there is any one character that you truly get to see so many parts of and to know much better, it’s him. From merciless killer to baffled advice-giver, Oliver’s personality, normally pent-up and stubborn, is truly released. I liked him before this, but now I LOVE him (not as much as I LOVE Myrnin, though). Seriously, even if you HATED him before this, you won’t. He was awesome. Rating - Glass Houses by Rachel Caine, 2 Sweets and wishing those vampires with prosperous days of garlic and chili. (Not bad for those people who really likes to try books that are far from there normal reading list. I recommend this to people who likes to read urban fanstasy, swear you wont regret it. Pero esto, esto... just no. There were a lot of portions I laughed, and some parts where I literally thought that this should not belong in the YA section. The plot-line feels unbelievably complex but when when paying attention it's actually just really well planned out. The books aren't too long and their not too short, and there's actual character development throughout. Claire and her friends face the dangerous and complex politics of the vampire world. Also, they find themselves facing new enemies and unexpected alliances. The world-building is impressive, with the author expanding on the vampire world’s mythology and Morganville’s history. Rachel does a great job keeping the reader on edge and anticipating what will happen next. 5. Lord of Misrule
