It was around the same time that I was diagnosed with asthma. I had many episodes as a child related to my allergies and my asthma. There were numerous occasions when I ended up in hospital needing treatment and help to breathe. A review of the Hoover Air Purifier 700 to see how it can alleviate the symptoms of allergy sufferers. It’s one of the best-looking air purifiers you can get, but the real attraction is the lifespan of the German-made filters, which can last up to 12 months depending on use. The device reminds you when they’re in need of replacement. Another nice feature is an intelligent auto mode, which senses how much pollution is in the room and chooses appropriately from its five speed settings. So, if you have smoke in the home regularly or it enters from outside of the home the air purifier can significantly improve the air quality indoors and prevent lung damage which leads to better quality of life, reduced allergens and a better night’s sleep. Which H-PURIFIER is best for smoke? In terms of what to expect on the noise front then, if you’re running it at the standard mode, then Hoover’s official figures are 50dBA. Move it into the Sleep mode though and this goes down to 21dBA, which isn’t bad at all if you’re going to need to keep the unit running at night.

In addition, many will include active carbon filters to remove traffic fumes, cigarette smoke and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from people, animals, plants and products in our house. The carbon is treated to have an extremely high surface area – it’s ultra-porous – attracting small particles to it and trapping them. Active carbon filters are known for removing bad smells. Where to place an air purifier Why are people suddenly scrambling to get their hands on the best air purifiers? Poor air quality can lead to a range of health complaints. The problem is particularly acute in our cities: poor air quality outside can cause poor air quality indoors.

Which H-PURIFIER is best for smoke?

The CADR rate measures how much air is filtered in cubic metres per hour (m 3ph) of clean, purified air produced. The higher the CADR rating, the cleaner the air in the room will become. As a rule, if the square root of the CADR rating matches the floor area of the room – eg 625m 3ph in a 25m 2 room – it is an excellent air purifier. Three-quarters is good and half is acceptable. You may see CADR measured in cubic feet per hour on American devices, but the maths is the same. At just 18dB on its lowest setting, the Blue 3210 is technically quieter than a whisper. It’s certainly the quietest we tested as well as one of the most efficient, using about as much energy as an LED lightbulb. What is generally present in smoke are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide volatile organic compounds (itself a category), carbon, ash and soot – particles which can damage the airways and lungs. Air purifiers use different kinds of filters to do their job – usually, a large, washable, reusable pre-filter to collect bigger particles, plus a finer filter, which is usually a disposable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. The length of time this lasts varies, but on average expect it to need replacing every six months (or fewer if you use the machine less). It’s the HEPA filter that catches all the tiny airborne nasties, and these are capable of catching particles as small as 0.3 microns, which is more than three times smaller than a cigarette smoke particle. Allergies and symptoms relating to the ingestion of pollen are caused by the immune system when they mistake the harmless pollen to be an intruder. As the immune system reacts to defend itself it can lead to sneezing, a stuffy nose and watery eyes and general feeling of discomfort.

As everyone’s immune system is different, some may have an allergic response and others won’t. It’s also true that not everyone’s allergies are the same. For example, some may be sensitive to grass pollen and seem to suffer during spring and summer, whilst others are allergic to pet dander which can cause them to suffer with allergies all year round. Bring the air purifier into the room in advance for when there will be planned smoke – cigarettes, cooking etc However, the air purifier does more than just pull in smoke, it will draw in dust, pollens, bacteria and other harmful particles at the same time. The H-Purifier 300, 500 and 700 all have pollen capturing and neutralizing built in as standard, as well as the pollen alerts. The difference between models is that the 500 comes with a diffuser which can release essential oils or H-BIOTICS probiotics to sanitise surfaces and create a more hygienic environment. The top of the range 700 comes with the diffuser and a humidifier. As I dusted, I could see dust particles floating in the air. It took no time at all for the Air Purifier 700 to be triggered and the LED light ring to change to red signalling the elevated dust levels. The machine automatically went into maximum purification mode and started to clean the air. (The Air Purifier 700 can purify the air of a 20 sq m room in just 10 minutes). An air purifier with HEPA filter

What is smoke?

Definitely not against a wall (unless the unit has been specifically designed that way). Air purifiers need to draw in air and redistribute it, so leave an arm’s length of space around each side. Put it in the room you spend the most time in, usually your bedroom or your child’s bedroom. What is the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR)? At first, I was disappointed to see that our air quality is mostly very good. The levels remained consistently green and there weren’t many occasions when the device was triggered and activated. Can air purifiers remove dust?
