Description

After the title sequence Bodie is seen wearing a light green shirt in the Capri. After the collision with Susan, however, it has magically transformed into a brown-red colour! (Well spotted, Jesper Antvorskov!) A reporter has a scoop on a new fighter aircraft being a deathtrap, and when this knowledge is discovered, becomes the target of several countries' officials. One weekend, when the agents are off-duty and out of the city, fugitive criminals capture the unarmed Bodie and Doyle along with their girlfriends.

Former secret service agent Quinn is on the run from an asylum, deranged by years of torture by the KGB. He seeks revenge by killing his former SIS comrades. Elizabeth Walsh: "Why don't you tell me the reason you're still sat in that chair and not rushing off putting the world to rights?"

Despite a number of flaws, I really like this episode. The plot works fairly well, though is arguably a little convoluted and perhaps gives too much away. And there are some terric one-liners and banter. I love the scene where Doyle meets the hooker "Anna" for the first time - some great, corny dialogue there – especially when he says "I want you to do a favour for a very good friend of mine..." and in walks old Cowley! Indeed there's plenty of humour throughout - see the Dialogue section below. There are several other things but if I discussed them that would spoil the episode for those who have yet to see it. Ferris, try to destroy all evidence of his operations: "I've got a match here and the whole place is covered in petrol!" Cowley, mysteriously: "Aye, I've been thinking about that... but I may have to borrow your daughter!..."

Michael Kitchen, James Cosmo, Ed Devereaux, Billy Murray, Barbara Kellerman, Forbes Collins, Sean Caffrey, Keith Marsh Cowley: "It had to be Rahad, Sir John - it was his style. And the cop remembers him leaving the embassy just about that time." An extradited spy's presence in Britain is being kept top-secret, yet the Bulgarians who sent him try their best to make his whereabouts public. When he is murdered, all eyes suspect the spy's daughter. The daughter of a government engineer who develops top-secret defence equipment has been kidnapped. In exchange for her life, he must hand over the plans of one of the projects.

The grey Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow chassis no. SRH 2971, known as the most filmed individual Rolls-Royce ever in history, was part of the cars supplied by Kingsbury Motors Ltd. This particular car was seen in at least 5 episodes. In Spain, the series The Professionals was broadcast for La 2 of Televisión Española from March 1978. In the target practice scene, the first victim's head gets blown off before Doyle has pulled the trigger. In 1987, ITV was re-running some episodes. After the Hungerford shooting incident the particular episode that was to be aired, "Lawson's Last Stand", had a theme that was deemed insensitive and was replaced by the less violent "The Untouchables".

The Professionals' TV Series on Video". Personal.u-net.com. 18 November 2000. Archived from the original on 14 May 2011 . Retrieved 15 January 2011. The show was also criticised for political incorrectness. Mary Whitehouse, President of the National Viewers' and Listeners' Association, was among those who highlighted the occasional use of sexist and racist terms. [8] As an example, in the closing credits of the episode 'Stake Out' two supporting actors are identified as 'Attractive Blonde' and 'Handsome Negro'. At the time such dialogue or descriptions were not seen as being disparaging towards minority groups. However, in the late 1980s and early 1990s the series was criticised by feminist groups. Yet, with the exception of "Klansmen", for which racist terms were a necessary part of the story, use of such terms in The Professionals was scarce in comparison to, for example, the 1970s police television programme The Sweeney. [9] A gang of ex-mercenaries stages a bank robbery, attracting the attention of a major crime boss who offers to employ them. Bodie, himself an ex-mercenary, is determined to settle some old scores with the gang's leader. This was the final episode to be filmed. Apparently the boat scenes nearly ended in Lewis being drowned. There is a short scene of him hanging precariously out of the boat - in the first take he did fall out and was dragged underneath the water with his leg trapped in the boat for several seconds before Martin noticed! (Thanks to Louise Tilley for info!) When Russian agent Kovac is finally caught, members of the film crew can be seen reflected in his "mirror" shades.

The Professionals

To be honest, the plot premise doesn't really make sense: why bother to merely scare the girl when surely the most effective thing to do would be to kidnap her? Anyway, I'm giving the story away a bit, so I'll not comment on that further.
