Separate the wires of the twisted pairs. When the wires are separated, they should not cross over each other. Cat5 and Cat5e cables are available in a wide variety of different lengths. In most cases, Cat5 patch cables tend to be chosen for reasonably short runs (100ft or less), especially if they are stranded core wires. TIP: Do your best to run the wire along the path it will follow between the two devices. Solid conductor (solid-core) Cat5/Cat5e Ethernet cable tends to be used where longer runs need to be set up to achieve a more reliable and stable permanent wired network. This is more common in office buildings and other professional setups. Applications that involve running outdoor Cat5 cable, or passing it through sections of wall, will often benefit from the use of solid-core wiring. Cable types, connector types and cabling topologies are defined by ANSI/TIA-568. Category5 cable is nearly always terminated with 8P8C modular connectors (often referred to incorrectly as RJ45 connectors [14] [15] [16]). The cable is terminated in either the T568A scheme or the T568B scheme. The two schemes work equally well and may be mixed in an installation so long as the same scheme is used on both ends of each cable.The Category5e specification improves upon the Category5 specification by further mitigating crosstalk. At first glance, you cannot necessarily tell whether a given length of Ethernet cable is stranded or solid without cutting through it to find out. Category 6 cable appeared at the start of the 21st century and remains popular with home networkers. Category 6 runs at up to 250MHz and sometimes used shielding around the bundle of data-carrying wires to reduce interference. Capable of moving up to 1Gbps over 330 feet, or 10Gbps for about half that, Cat 6A upgraded the spec to 500MHz for 330 feet of 1Gbps throughput. Each card can record different shows from your cable and store them on the file server. You can then watch your recorded shows on any TV in your house with XBMC.
