About this deal

Big Brother Instinct: Inverted. He is the younger one but he is very protective of his sister after reconciling with her. Modest Royalty: She always wears simple dresses that are comfortable to work on. She is so used to this that she designs her party dresses to be easy to move around. When He Smiles: He rarely ever lifts his lips, except for a sarcastic quip or sardonic laugh, but after seeing his daughter for the first time in three years and praising her work ethic in not only maintaining but improving his domain, he lets loose with the most earnest smile he can. Stoic Spectacles: Wears a pair of round glasses and is a strict, distant guy with the appearance of an educated noble.

Stay in the Kitchen: Averted. It's noted that it's unusual for female aristocrats to be working at all, let alone how hard Iris does. However, no one ever indicates that she should stop. At most, people get worried about her health considering how little she sleeps or relaxes.Iris herself also becomes one when she's denounced by the church for having torn down the old monastery, since it's akin to being declared a criminal - other territories start making sanctions against her, crippling her trade routes, many of her civil servants and company employees leave their posts, and even her family members are at risk of losing their positions. If she hadn't been able to prove it was a Frame-Up, the Armelia house would've essentially been erased from the kingdom.

Prince Alfred's faction is about half that size but include many self-made men who were ennobled due to merit and various powerful families who have long held the levers of power through monopolization of key positions in the king's Ministries. To whit the Minister of Finance is a strong supporter of Alfred. Counterfeit Cash: Buys up a large chunk of Tasmeria's famine reserves from corrupt nobles with adulterated coins. Evil All Along: Despite portraying herself as a nice girl, she’s really a spy trying to ruin everyone’s lives to get what she wants. Spotting the Thread: Dean is introduced in the manga through one of these moments. He catches an attempt at embezzlement that slipped Iris's oversight when he realizes that one town had an unusually large budget for its size despite having no unique products and discovers that they had been getting agricultural grants for "bad weather and low harvest" despite nobody else in area reporting anything similar. That he caught this impresses Iris enough to arrange a meeting with him.Defrosting Ice Queen: After the betrayal she suffered, she has drawn a line she won't cross when it comes to trusting people. She complains Dean is making her to want to trust him with everything. DivanOfficially, a merchant working for the Ayler Corporation. Unofficially, Tweil's top sabotage agent in Tasmeria. Character Development: After comparing Yuri and his sister, Bern realizes what a foolish waste the former is and eventually distances himself from her to become more responsible.

Dean doesn't want a relationship with Iris despite loving her because she'll make his judgment worse if he's always thinking about her. He also thinks that what's most beautiful about her is her passion and hard work, which he feels she couldn't express if she was married and had to worry about family issues. The Scapegoat: The details are unclear, but it's indicated that what Iris did to Yuri was very small in scope and involved at worst spreading rumors. However, the other nobles that were actually harassing Yuri had made Iris something of a figurehead for the group, so she finds herself taking the fall for them. Being manipulated so easily is actually more the real reason her father almost sent her to the church rather than being expelled because it showed she couldn't hold herself up politically. Silk Hiding Steel: Mellice is exactly what one would expect of an aristocratic lady. She also won't hesitate to destroy verbally and socially anyone who crosses her or mess with her family. The Gadfly: Especially early on, Iris loves to poke fun at herself and play along with anyone who (justifiably, given the setting and their prior understanding of Iris) questions her ability to handle money, businesses, tax reforms, and just general economic matters. She'll typically make a big deal about how a 'clueless noble' like herself would be eaten alive dealing with the economy, only to then suggest a course of action that takes the market by storm. The First Cut Is the Deepest: After Edward breaking off his engagement to her, Iris draws a line in how much she's willing to open up to other people, which she becomes consciously aware of when she starts falling for Dean. She's actually at least as hurt by Bern siding with Yuri and it takes him some doing to get her to admit how hurt she was because she trusts him so little.

The Corrupter: Yuri is turning the people around her into short tempered, wasteful idiots. While it's easy to dismiss it as mere stupidity, it's implied that she's doing it on purpose. The Ingenue: Deconstructed. Setting aside Yuri's implied manipulations for a moment, the very qualities that make her appealing to Bern and Edward make her completely unsuitable to be a queen. Bern compares her to a dream once he's wised up: She's relaxing and fulfilling, but also basically devoid of any substance. Her bubbly personality is considered a liability as she commits one faux pas after another and brings out the worst in her otherwise admirable suitors. Beware the Nice Ones: Iris is willing to help her people without any provocation. However, she is more than willing to sentence Van to death for treason when he attempts to spy on her Duchy. She also tears Dorseen a new one after he causes her some trouble in her Dutchy, and she is happy when she finds out he had been expelled from the Knights and his family. She also tears into the Civil Servants that betrayed her. While she gives them a chance to either officially resign or return to work, she makes it clear there would be consequences if they continue impeding government progress. Childhood Friend Romance: She and Dida grew up together in the Armenia estate. They had a few ship tease moments when they got older, and they eventually married and are about to have children of their own. Heir Club for Men: When her elder brother, the Crown Prince, died, she became the only one who had full rights to inherit the throne. However, because it was unprecedented for a woman to take the throne, she married a Duke and had him assume the role of the King, although she still played a role in politics afterwards.
