About this deal

Past their rippling current, I noticed a store wedged between a luxury clothing boutique I could never afford to shop in and a barber shop. The new store fit like a puzzle piece, nestled snugly into the alley between the two buildings.

His struggle to believe was something that hit pretty hard. He kind of reminded me a bit of Thomas in the Bible. A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" (Nikki Mitchell, author of Nightshade Forest ) I approached sluggishly to keep it from springing away, and I crouched to study the specimen while my mind raced with explanations based on things I’d read in books. I jumped in surprise when the still haze erupted into a volcanic blanket of white flakes, littering the end of the street and temporarily eating a streetlamp before it calmed. The figure appeared over my sprawled frame in snow-powdered boots with silk laces that gave off the potent scent of sweet spices and pending excuses. He or she was a solid shadow against the sun burning through the yellowish fog overhead.I loved Winter. It’s filled with Christmas-y creatures such as dwarves, giant gnomes, reindeer, and ice magic. The world is cool (pun not intended) but that’s only in part due to world building. The author is beyond talented. Her multi-layered, immersive descriptions completely bring this book to life. I could almost feel the bitter cold, taste the richness of the hot chocolate (I literally had to make myself a cup), see the ice magic smash against Jolly Cheat (the resident villain). My gasp was lost in the cold wind drifting down the walkways overcrowded with holiday lights and Ontarians in multicoloured mittens. But the street wasn’t just busy with the usual Waterloo crowd, it was also busy with birds.

This is a story I enjoyed reading but it was really hard for me to finished it. This book is a fantasy, action story. The author really respected and follow this two genre but it also (although I haven’t seen anyone talking about it) has mystery which in my opinion was written in a very specific way for the reader to really see every scene and every character as a suspect. I do think that the book was a little bit slow to get into the action but once you got there, it did not stop. I think for a debut novel for this author, it was a very strong beginning the character development, and the way that Helen was resistant to this new world felt realistic. It didn’t feel like she was just immediately accepting of it like a lot of modern world meets fantasy world books do.Zane was amazing. I really, really liked him. I feel like I didn’t get to know him quite as much as I wanted to but I’m hopeful I’ll see him in book two. A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" - Nikki Mitchell, author of Nightshade Forest All the scene were described in a way you could literally understand everything, However, I found it hard to read some chapters because of the amount of information it has; this as a result of how scene were described, I understand that is good to give enough information to understand the location but sometimes I just found it to overwhelming. This is a book you have to really pay attention to and it can be a little heavy because of everything it describes. As I said, I really enjoyed reading it but several times I had to stop doing it because I couldn’t focus or I just didn’t understand some scenes or things that were happening so that was something I do not like. The book although it is for young adult sometimes I felt it was for adults because of the dialogues. Perhaps of that, the book it’s always moving, there is something happening all the time and that made me keep reading it. I do find the story really interesting but I didn’t like that much how some scenes (Not all of them) were described, I think some chapters had too much information and made the story slow. This is how Helen's magical journey to Winter begins. A fast paced adventure with hurdles at almost every corner, full of bravery, epic battles, sacrifices, prayers, hope and quite a bit of fun.

Where do I start? Admittedly it took me a little while to get into this story but granted I was reading more than one book at first. Hide it! The girl snapped at the sight of me holding it up like a beacon. I’ll confuse them while you get away. No time to waste, Trite. Blink twice and chase the train! A twinkle lit the girl’s eyes. It imparts that lovely cosiness of a good tale told by a bard next to a roaring fire, mostly because of the vivid and absolutely enthralling descriptions, but also because sixteen-year-old Helen Bell is one character any reader is bound to root for.
