About this deal

We have been screen printing t-shirts by hand for nearly a decade now. It’s about time we gave you our opinion on some of the most common squeegee handles on the market. The handle is a light aluminium so you don’t need to be super strong to use this as a window squeegee.

If you’re not sure what size you need, the best solution is to buy one with an adjustable handle so you can set the length to fit you. Squeegee Head Material Before we get into the details, I want to point out that there is no right or wrong squeegee and these results are purely based on the experience we have with each squeegee handle over a long period of time. Each handle is scored using the same criteria; The material of the head part of the squeegee is important as you need to ensure you choose the right design for the job at hand.Be cautious when using any product on your vehicle if it doesn’t specify that it’s safe to do so. If the material is slightly rough you can end up scratching the paintwork which is very expensive to fix. Only use products on a car that are designed for the job. Should I put the head in the dishwasher?

Are you needing a squeegee to help dry the wet room daily or will you just be using it once a month to clean windows? The metal handle squeegee is number 1 for a reason! So much so that we are currently in the process of exchanging (nearly) all of our squeegees over to the metal ergonomic handles. A window cleaner or tiled surface needs to be a soft foam maybe with an added rubber scraper for removing excess moisture. Blue: XX Hard Blade. Suggested mesh count is 120T-200T. Ideal for substrate printing including paper, board, metal, ceramics and glass printing. This blade gives a good amount of pressure to increase definition to your artwork. It also limits the deposit of ink which is great for non absorbent surfaces and extreme solvent based inks. Ideal for photographic work and fine lines. Suitable for most inks and for non absorbent surfaces. Because of the secure fit of the head to the handle, this squeegee isn’t very flexible. This makes it harder to use in tight spaces so better for an open area like a garage or an open plan wet room and shower squeegee. The floor squeegee handle is made from a tough alloy and feels substantial to hold. It is very durable but only if used correctly. If you’re looking for a multi-purpose tool that does both mopping and squeegeeing then the Oxo Floor Mop is the perfect choice. The badass squeegee is one of the first ergonomic squeegee handles that we could get our hands on. It has 2 handles that are created to relieve pressure off the printers wrists while still giving a solid and even print. The sponge head folds up and sits on elevated feet for storage so it won’t stay damp and end up mouldy.

Blue: X Hard Blade. Suggested mesh count is 120T-200T. Ideal for substrate printing including paper, board, metal, ceramics and glass printing. This blade will allow a good amount of pressure to increase definition to your artwork, it will also limit the deposit of ink which is great for non absorbent surfaces and extreme solvent based inks. Ideal for photographic work and fine lines. Suitable for most inks and for non absorbent surfaces. Best for Textile Printing – We recommend 65 Red if printing onto dark garments. We recommend 75 Green for printing onto light garments and for general purpose printing. With all the different rooms in your home, it can be a bit of a nightmare to find the correct tools for cleaning everything properly. A vacuum cleaner may work well on dry surfaces but what about wet areas? For more hard-wearing surfaces (like concrete) you’ll want to consider a rubber floor squeegee as these tend to be a bit more hard-wearing. The Chemical Hut has produced this heavy duty squeegee and it should handle tougher surfaces without any complaints.

Red: Softer General Blade. Suggested mesh count is 15T- 77T. Ideal for textile printing and high opaque designs and some general fine lines and detail. Suitable for Plastisol and Water Based inks.

Felt Squeegees

The negatives are something which we have had to learn over time. Our main criticism revolves around the squeegee blade. Firstly the blade which comes with the squeegee handle is too soft so immediately you need to change that out. Secondly the blade is designed to hang slightly over each edge of the handle, as the original blade is too soft, this creates a dragging defect on each side of your screen. Red: Soft Blade. Suggested mesh count is 15T-55T. Ideal for textile printing and high opaque designs especially light onto dark printing. Suitable for Plastisol Inks. If you’re needing it to clean windows or glass then a soft, scratch-free foam head is ideal. An extendable handle as well will help reach up into those corners. The double foam lip is scratch free and can be used on any surface from laminate to wooden floors, wet room floors, and even heavy duty floors like in the garage or patio. The double foam wiper will be sure to remove all water and there is a non-slip rubber handle for ease of use. The positives of EZ Grip squeegee is that you can easily change the blade in house which will save time and money. Additionally the handles are moulded perfectly to your hand creating a very comfortable printing experience.
