Touch buttons allow you to interact in a whole new way by customizing your items, bathing your character and petting your Tamagotchi character with a swipe of a finger!

Sitter: Sitter Poketchi can be called over from 7:00 AM to 6:55 PM to take care of the Tamagotchi for 100 gotchi points. They cannot be called if the happiness or hunger meters are at zero. The user must also send the sitter away before 7:00 PM or the Tamagotchi will lose happiness points from being forgotten about. Bandai Namco announced Wednesday that its new Tamagotchi device will have a built-in camera. Yes, users will still be able to do basic Tamagotchi things, like feeding their pets and cleaning up their poops, but also use the camera feature to bring the world to a Tamagotchi. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. Gift Game: The user must select an item, accessory, or furniture to give away as a gift. Gifted items are lost. The gift will be swapped with other presents and the user must swipe the buttons in time with the music until it stops. Once the music stops, the Tamagotchi will get a present.Includes a camera to take photos with your character, cook, find new Tamagotchi friends and have your character go on playdates.

Party Games (Party Exclusive): Three games are available to play under the "Party" icon once the user starts a party. Only two are available as the selection rotates daily. The new touch buttons allow you to interact with your character in ways like never before. You can also connect with your friend’s Tamagotchi Pix using a Tama code, and even plan character play dates for a later time.Like the the tree feature in the Tamagotchi Plus Color, the Tamagotchi can plant a seed outside their house and water it daily until it grows a fruit or item. The tree will only produce fruit that can be harvested if it is watered every day. If the user misses a day, the unripe fruit will fall off and cannot be harvested. Balloons: Pop the balloon by tapping on the button when the Tamagotchi is under it. Special balloons may show up that contain more gotchi points. With 18 various games including party-themed games, you can earn Gotchi points or keep your character happy! The touch-sensitive buttons are janky, with mine failing to respond to the press of a finger about one-third of the time. To make matters worse, many early users — myself included — have found that these buttons are misaligned with the shell of the device, meaning part of the pressable area that’s supposed to be exposed is actually covered by clear plastic, further diminishing their potential responsiveness. And the battery life is atrocious. My device arrived on a Friday, I set it up Saturday morning, and I had to change the batteries on Tuesday… yep, after just four days of use. I actually snort-laugh-shrieked, “What!?” when the screen telling me to change my batteries popped up.

Social: The user can upload photos from the album on to a social network where other characters can like it. The photo must be cropped and given a caption before posting. Get ready to feel the difference! The Tamagotchi Pix still has the iconic 3 buttons, though now they’re touch buttons making interacting with your Tamagotchi character just a tap away.

Nurture your character!

This one may be a hard sell for newcomers with all of its quirks, but after years without a proper upgrade to the playing experience, I think the real Tamagotchi heads are going to have a lot of fun with Pix.
