These round sprinklers usually have three or four arms that spin and cover a circular area. One of the best things about rotating sprinklers is how far they can spray water. However, they do not achieve an even coverage because the area closer to the sprinkler receives more water. Even among the best and most adjustable sprinklers, there are others that stand out, and for us it was the Karcher oscillating sprinkler pictured below . It just gives you so many options, including turning off individual jets. Weight and stability Not all sprinklers are created equal. It’s important to choose the best garden sprinkler to ensure that you get an even spray without leaks or water wastage causing problems. If you have a large garden but low pressure, you’ll have to buy several oscillating sprinklers if you don’t want to keep moving one around.

As the name suggests, the pro has two modes: fine spray and jet. The modes are diametrically opposed along the swing arm and can be switched by turning the grey grips at the input end. Make sure you hold the grey spray bar when adjusting and switching between the modes, as it swivels about a bit. Both give pretty decent coverage of up to 230 sq m, depending on your hose pressure. As the summers are getting hotter and drier, it’s more important than ever to keep your garden watered. With sustained temperatures in excess of 30 degrees and reduced summer rainfall, it doesn’t take long for grass to dry out and yellow, and for plants and trees to wilt through thirst. Karcher is a name that is more commonly associated with high quality pressure washers, and I’ve owned a few of them in my time, so I was excited to get my hands on their premium oscillating sprinkler. Here’s a look from them before we get going at the overall usability and performance. Then it’s my turn 😀For gardener’s who struggle with the constant battle of sprinkler vs. water pressure, Claber’s rotating Idrojet 2000is one of the most reliable and best oscillating sprinklers to use in low-pressure areas. Oscillating sprinklers are a pretty safe bet, and as long as you don’t have really low water pressure, or a very large lawn, you should be ok, and this is one of the reasons we chose the Karcher sprinkler for our best overall oscillator. Personally, I prefer to opt for metal whenever possible, and that’s why I would go with either the Orbit travelling sprinkler or the Aqua Joe oscillating sprinkler if it only came down to durability. Either that or something heavy duty like this. Types of sprinklers This model is a strange looking little thing, almost resembling a mini surface to air missile launcher or futuristic tank. The plain blue plastic base is in contrast with the grey sprayer head and its multiple orange switches, and it certainly stands out. This colour scheme is probably going to be one of those love it or hate it things, but I did like that it made the sprinkler easy to see and therefore less likely to be trodden on. The soloman sprinkler is a quirky entry that has a functional ornamental vibe to it. It looks like a dreamcatcher that caught an opulent dragonfly or butterfly. We had to have it.

The metal fittings add to this already high level of durability and showed no sign of leakage, even after we dropped it on purpose a few times to see what would happen. It’s no wonder that the company is offering a 2-year warranty, they know the product will last.If you’ve got enough pressure this sprinkler will reach a range of 20m, either side, and even at a relatively lowly two bar of pressure you should reach up to 16m away. With a maximum coverage of 320m, it’s a great choice for keeping larger gardens watered. A rotating sprinkler will generally have some adjustable spray settings. You may be able to alter the rotation speed and power. However, you can’t generally change the spray patterns much. The usual comments apply: the strength of your water pressure will affect maximum coverage. Make sure that your tap doesn’t have a pressure-limiting attachment fitted, as removing this can sometimes make all the difference. Overall, you want a sprinkler with a range of spray patterns that oscillates in a way that suits your space. Also, a quality hose connector is a must– there’s nothing worse than a leaking sprinkler! The Gardena OS140 pop-up sprinkler is our choice for the best in this category, bringing the reliability that this brand is known for, and a healthy dose of style to go with it. Watering performance is good (but not amazing) with average water pressure, and the build quality is among the best out of all the products we tested.
