Of course, with a low price and small size comes some compromise. Here are the issues you should know about: When we test craft machines we not only examine what a product can do, but also the value it represents. We like to review them in the context of how they may be used, the cost, as well as the tech they offer. Silhouette Cameo 4— The flagship Silhouette craft cutter, and the most technologically advanced in the Cameo series to date. It has two additional larger models: the Cameo 4 Plus and Cameo 4 Pro. Haven't been game to try styrene sheet yet but given the in depth info provided here I had better give it a go.

You will need administrator permission to install the software. On personal computers, this is usually your regular login information. If you are not an administrator, you will have to get the login information to continue with the install. I’ll just add that the Cameo isn’t the only plotter out there, so it’s worth researching before you buy one. If you do get one, make sure it can cut user defined shapes. Not all of them can. It’s time to take your craft projects to the next level with a fantastic built-in crosscutter and roll feeder – ideal for feeding materials directly into the machine!

Diaries & Calendars

ART AND CRAFT CUTTING MADE SIMPLE, EVEN FOR BEGINNERS - Designed with simplicity and value in mind, bust out your DIY dreams and create fresh styles for your T-shirts, home decor, and more with the... The Cameo 4 model has an increased cutting force of up to 5kg, and offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity with increased range. This is also compatible with PixScan technology. The Silhouette Cameo 4 Pro also allows the user to die-cut through materials without the need for a mat. The tool head is offset and that matched with the grooved cutting strip allows the machine to cut through materials without the need to apply the media to a carrier sheet first.

It's not just the well known Silhouette and Cricut machines that can do masks, virtually any cutter with a very fine and sharp blade can do these. I own a Silver Bullet cutter and have used it for such work. Silhouette is angular, aggressive and sharp. The rear-mounted touch-screen on the cameo 4 is a nice touch, but Cricut's close app-integration ensures such a thing is not needed. This won’t take too long, but before I talk about the Silhouette Studio software proper, I need to take a minute to talk about the two different types of graphic files there are out there. It's going to get a bit techy for a few minutes, so it you aren't that way inclined, please bear with me.

A few people have been asking about the capabilities of the Silhouette Cameo that I have been using on my Wainfleet thread to help my scratchbuilding efforts and whether it would be right for them or for a club to buy. I can’t answer that, but I thought that this thread would help people decide if its right for them (and worth the outlay) while helping to provide information specifically for modellers. The Cameo 4 provides the user with more cutting functions than ever before with inclusion of 3 brand new blade types: Silhouette has also recently released software for mobiles with Silhouette Go and Silhouette Mint is the bespoke app for the stamp machine. Silhouette Connect is a new plug-in that enables connectivity to CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator, and its free. Which is easier to use Silhouette or Cricut?
