Description

The Revopoint POP 2 features two IR sensors, a Class 1 laser projector, and a high-resolution RGB sensor to deliver dual camera infrared structured light scanning. The IR camera and RGB sensors allows for color 3D scanning also on the Revopoint 3D scanner range. (Photo is of the Revopoint POP 2) This is often the tradeoff for the high level of detail that comes with blue light scanning. So if you need to scan larger objects, you’re better off with a different type of 3D scanner, like the Revopoint POP 2 or the Einscan SP. Scanning Precision The Revopoint POP is an excellent 3D scanner for makers and small businesses in need of an affordable, cost-effective scanner that’s compact, versatile, and can produce scans of objects both large and small.

For the MINI, the point distance is 0.05 mm. This provides a lot more detail compared to the 0.15 mm of the POP 2. The Revopoint Mini is a structured light 3D scanner that projects a pattern of light on an object and measures the distortion in the pattern to determine the geometry of the model. 3D scanning is just as much art as it is science, and some objects are much harder to scan than others. Shiny and reflective surfaces are hard to capture, and dark colors and voids can be mixed up in the software. To help ensure that users will have a successful first scan, Revopoint includes a ceramic bust that has a dull white finish. This asymmetrical model is ideal for scanning, and the small size of the bust means it fits easily on the turntable. Demo model with a visible blue light projected on a surface It features a high-resolution global RGB exposure sensor that synchronizes with the depth data captured by the IR camera to match the real-world color details of an object. The algorithm also works to align scan images based on color as well as markers and features to improve object color fidelity further. Scan Speed Revopoint POP Revopoint MINI is a high-precision blue light 3D scanner with incredible performance. The MINI is compact and has a precision of up to 0.02mm. Its performance rivals professional dental cast scanners making possible the skilled use of the MINI for dental cast making by professionals. The MINI can also be used for jewelry design, reverse engineering, quality inspection, garage kit reproduction, miniature 3D model making, etc. The MINI is a necessary modeling tool for professionals such as designers, engineers, makers, and medical and scientific research workers. The specifications match this goal. The Revopoint POP 2 features an improved 0.15 mm point cloud distance, or in simple terms, precision. Alongside, it shifts the minimum scan volume down to 20 x 20 x 20 mm to allow the capture of the detail and features of smaller 3D objects. Lastly, the working distance has been improved to work at 150 mm in line with the better all-around precision. As for who’ll get the most out of the Revopoint POP 2, the more advanced set of features and scan quality makes it an excellent option for DIY makers who want to level up their 3D scanning. The Revopoint POP 2 should also suit small businesses looking for an affordable and compact scanner to prototype or develop products.

The Revopoint POP leans on dual camera infrared structured light to produce scans. The camera setup consists of a Class 1 laser projector, two infrared sensors, and an RGB sensor. The Revopoint POP 2 features precision up to 0.05 mm alongside a 0.15 mm point cloud distance. The Revopoint MINI’s precision hit 0.02 mm, while the point cloud distance is 0.05 mm. When testing the Revopoint POP 2, I confirmed its accuracy to 0.07mm. My first few scans had issues with the mesh not aligning correctly, and calibrating the scanner fixed this problem. Unfortunately, this process also involves deleting all Revo Scan software from my computer and reinstalling before the scanner could be recognized. This is a painful process that is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation and was only resolved after sending a message to the support team.

Better yet, the Revopoint POP is suitable for various applications, from subjects as large as the human face to small as figurines and models. It’s also suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. The Revopoint MINI employs dual camera blue structured light technology consisting of two IR sensors, a Class 1 blue light projector, and an RGB sensor. Under the hood, MIRACO comes equipped with its 2.8 GHz 8-core processor and 16GB or 32GB of high-speed RAM, ensuring maximum efficiency in model scanning and processing. The device also features an immersive 2K 6” AMOLED display, offering an optimal viewing experience even in challenging lighting conditions, with the added flexibility of a 180° flip feature for easy selfie scans.
