About this deal

The Orient Symphony II also makes a great gift to a father, a brother, a son or a friend who may not know much about watches yet. The combination of affordable price and durability makes it easy on the wallet, and resilient to a new user who may not be familiar or want to deal with watch care. Although not everyone will fall in love with this kind of design, its conservatism and simplicity is something that I feel can be generally appreciated. In general, I like how Orient’s affordability allows me to try out styles and trends that have piqued my interest, without having to commit to a more expensive option. Rose gold, for example, is a very “now” choice for case metal. Seeing all the incredible rose gold models rolling out from everyone from Audemars Piguet to Omega, I started wondering what a nice dress watch of that hue would look like on my wrist. The dial of the Orient symphony is beautiful and extremely classy. In addition, it is also beautifully finished with great attention to detail that gives the impression that this watch is much more expensive than it actually is.

As mentioned, the case for the third version of the Symphony has undergone a few subtle changes. First off, the signature dauphine hands have been swapped for a spear-tipped set. In addition, the chapter ring has been refined so that the chapter ring now sits flat against the edge of the case and has a concentric design. The previous version had beveled dauphine hands. The average turnaround time for repairs is 6-8 weeks, but it would likely be much longer at this time due to our service station being closed as a result of COVID-19, plus the transit time each way. Inside this movement, there are 21 jewels that act to reduce frictions at various moving parts inside the watch. It’s also moving at 21600 vibrations per hour or 6 beats per second. It has a mineral watch crystal which is flat. This is the biggest difference of the Symphony and the Bambino, another popular dress watch by Orient.Unfortunately, while Orient certainly achieved the classical aesthetic they were going for, the overall look is more on the “ho-hum” side of handsome. The Arabic numerals are too big, taking a face that could have looked discreet and minimal and instead making it look crowded. Overall, the movement is a robust and has been used in many Orient’s for many years without much issues, though I kinda feel Orient should upgrade all of their watches with their newer movement.

So why call it the Symphony III? This third iteration of the classic collection has undergone a few slight design changes, starting with the hands. The signature dauphine hands have been swapped for a spear-tipped set. The chapter ring is now flat against the edge of the case and features a concentric design. Additionally, the date window has more of a rounded frame. While these are all pretty subtle changes, the watch certainly hasn’t lost its luster—it’s still as polished (literally) and elegant as ever, especially with its sunburst dial. It is simple and minimalistic, but at the same time, the dial is beautifully finished, ensuring that you will never get bored of it. This is an exceptionally well-balanced timepiece, and this obviously goes very well together with its name, Symphony. The Orient Symphony has a nice traditional dress watch look. It has a good proportion due to its almost symmetry dial design. All the elements on the dial are moderately sized with respect to each other. The dauphine hands also has the same beveled design. On top of the markers at the outer edge of the dial are minute markings which is useful to help tell and set time accurately. Please advise. Unless you can provide a warm introduction or reach out direct to Japan to assist, I'd rather not be directed to them as I've had no response from Japan whatsoever." All in all, the Orient Symphony is an affordable elegant, and classy timepiece that offers great value for money. It has a beautiful finish, and the dial is the highlight of this timepiece. We are sorry to hear that, but we would unfortunately not be able to provide any further advice in this scenario as we are unable to ship our products internationally as per our agreement with the manufacturer and so cannot offer any repair services to any customers living outside of the US/ Canada."
