About this deal

HP Inc UK Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA FRN 973346) and acts as a credit intermediary and not a lender, offering credit products provided by a limited number of finance providers. Such credit products may not be suitable for everyone. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit. The only way to significantly improve performance is through a full calibration, we used Calman for this, and achieved really solid results for sRGB. However for wider gamuts like DCI-P3, coverage of this gamut simply isn't good enough, so I wouldn't recommend this display for anything other than sRGB. Calibrated Color Performance To read more about the technologies and even learn how to get Nvidia G-Sync working on an AMD FreeSync-certified monitor – even one that might not be officially supported – read our dedicated article. It isn’t perfect, by any means, but if you’ve spent your budget on a half-decent gaming rig and you don’t want to sacrifice resolution or refresh rate at the altar of compromise, the X27qc is exactly what you need.

We are pretty impressed with how HP has been able to make this sort of monitor with only a bit of fat trimmed around the edges. We lose a bit of wide gamut here, a bit of performance there, we don't get a directional toggle for the OSD, and so on. But the basics are intact, like how we still get a height adjustable stand, and how the gaming experience still holds up well compared to other monitors we've tested with the same specs. Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality.

Often in this price category we see extremely limited tilt-only stands, but HP is including something basic and usable with the X27q. Display Performance Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. Once we’ve completed our quantitative tests, we use the monitor for at least a week, spending time in our favourite test games (it’s hard work) to qualitatively assess performance. We’ll stress-test the panels to judge build quality and note the number of ports, the limits of the viewing angles and the versatility of the stand. FreeSync is more common among budget gaming monitors, as it costs nothing to implement – there’s a hefty premium on Nvidia’s G-Sync. While there is a list of monitors that support G-Sync, nowadays both technologies are supported by graphics cards from both AMD and Nvidia.

Information about whether there is a possibility for wall mounting according to the VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS). All performance specifications represent the typical specifications provided by HP's component manufacturers; actual performance may vary either higher or lower. Results may vary based on quality of the original picture/photo/video and difference between the previous monitor settings compared to the HP Enhance + mode. In the past, Twisted Nematic ( TN) was the only panel type a gamer would have considered: it’s not just the cheapest tech on the market, it also boasts the fastest response time. However, rival technologies such as Vertical Alignment ( VA) and In-Plane Switching ( IPS), once avoided for their slow response times, are now considered to be an excellent choice for gamers. Input lag A frame is a still image. Your gaming PC combines a vast number of frames into a sort of virtual flip-book to create what you see on your monitor. The number of frames your gaming PC can combine in a second is known as a frame rate (measured in frames per second), a figure that will vary depending on the intensity of the task. The storage humidity shows the lower and upper humidity limit, which ensures safe storage of the display. Storing it outside these limits might damage the display. The X27q is generally a responsive monitor to use, the OSD is quite fast. So I'm not surprised the input latency is low, at just 0.4ms of processing delay. The major limiting factor is not so much the processing lag, but more the moderate refresh rate. 165Hz is a great starting point for PC gamers today, but if you want the best latency for competitive gaming, jumping up to 240Hz is the way to go, though you'll have to spend roughly twice as much if you want to stay at a 1440p resolution.
