About this deal

New Hisense A85H OLED Smart TV. Self-luminous OLED with intelligent algorithm allows you to see the pitch darkness in great detail. OLED Colour provides over a billion shades of colour with precision, reveal the vividness and richness of the real world. And remarkably clear and fluid images are played on the dazzling screen with native 120Hz refresh rate. There are added smarts in Chromecast support and built-in Alexa. Although there’s none of the new advanced gaming features, the 65U8QFTUK marks itself out as an excellent set for gamers with older consoles. I recorded latency at 1080p/60Hz at 14.1ms, and you can feel the smoothness in the inputs for a game, such as Project Cars 3, which requires precise responses.

As the months roll on, the prices drop as they do with TVs from all brands. So as the costs fall on LG and Samsung sets, they do with Hisense's, too. Discover new possibilities with the 55” Ultra HD TV from Hisense. Featuring OLED technology and innovative smart features, you’ll find endless options the whole family can enjoy. Hisense OLED High-end Hisense TVs support HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, while its top-of-the-range OLED sets have HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ too. This puts them right in the mix with the household name TV brands.

I’m less confident with its HDR10+ performance, however. A HDR10+ stream of 1917 on Prime Video looks close to – but less refined – than its disc-based counterpart. Like the U8K, this model has a very wide color gamut, so it's vibrant and colorful. It also has equally good image processing, which is very welcome for this mid-range model. Plus, it is compatible with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, with the same DTS advanced audio format support as the more expensive Hisense, making this TV one of the cheapest home entertainment-ready TVs you can get. Central support under the TV keeps it stable, and allows the TV to rotate at an angle of 25 degrees You learn more about the differences between all these formats in TV screen technology explained. How do the brands' HDR TV screen standards compare?

With Hisense, it's the other way round. Typically its TVs struggle, but there are some diamonds in the rough. When costs are so low, it's worth searching for that one good model that's comparable to more well-known brands, but undercuts them by hundreds of pounds. What about the Hisense Laser TV? You’re not going to get this level of performance from the bigger TV brands at this screen size or price. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)It extends the depth of the screen to 49mm, which is not bad for wall-mounting but there’ll be a gap between the screen and wall. The screen itself is wafer thin and the TV supports a VESA wall-mount. Of the four HDMI inputs, two cover the 2.1 standard. Auto low latency mode is across all inputs; HDMI VRR and 120Hz are available on the HDMI 2.1 ports. Note that one of the 2.1 inputs supports eARC, so if you plug in a compatible sound system, that leaves just one input available for another 2.1 source. Supporting all the HDR formats on offer doesn't mean a TV will make good use of them, and an OLED panel doesn't guarantee excellent picture quality. One possible reason could be that Hisense is simply taking a bigger hit on its profits. Its TVs could cost the roughly the same to manufacture as everyone else's but its mark-up is smaller. Hisense is an enormous company that makes more than just TVs. It may be happy to turn a bigger profit in its other product areas while it makes a name for itself in TVs.

Stress testing it with a 4K Blu-ray of 1917 and the Clear setting ekes out the most fluid and stable image. The Smooth and Standard settings are similar, the former causes stutter and produces noise/blur on the edges of moving objects. (Image credit: Future) Hisense U8H review: smart TV & menus There’s a lot to say about U8H series, but the key takeaway is that Hisense provides great value here. While it doesn’t offer the same level of perfection as top OLED TVs, it bests them in terms of peak brightness, and the overall picture quality is great for the price. Add to that a fully loaded feature set, and the U8H is a TV option well worth consideration. Hisense U8H review: price and release date LG is the best brand on average, which is true in many cases, but there are some stinkers in its huge lineup.

The performance in the 55-inch model doesn’t scale up as well to the 65-inch unit. Although there’s Dolby Atmos support for a more spacious presentation, for a screen of this size a soundbar is a must if the audio is to match the visuals the Hisense 65U8QFTUK can produce. Hisense 65U8QFTUK conclusion We haven't tested any of Hisense's 2023 TVs yet, which have a focus on Mini LED displays, but we will update this article when we do. Hopefully Hisense can continue to close the gap between it and its rivals. Hisense's U8H has a Filmmaker mode that provides mostly accurate pictures straight out of the box. (Image credit: Future) Hisense U8H review: picture quality The A9H has an integrated Dolby Atmos 3.1.2 system that Hisense dubs its Sonic Screen. Made of five woofers, two tweeters and an integrated subwoofer, it’s a rather good effort for a flatscreen TV.
