About this deal

Things get even better with Blu-rays. Via the DM100, The Expendables 3 becomes an absolute assault on the senses with guns firing, bullets pinging, bells ringing, helicopter blades whirring, train carriages rattling and more. The soundbase presents this sonic storm with assurance and clarity, so that you’re aware of each effect without feeling overwhelmed. Consequently you feel fully engaged with the movie. All of the issues do the exact same thing on my daughters tv so it can surely only be the soundbar as that's what the devices are connected to?? I've tried three full sets of hdmi cables in addition to two separate TV's and still have the same input issues. The bar is running the latest firmware and I've also reset it. In action the DM75 is a class act, just like its little brother. After letting rip with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Blu-ray, what impresses most is the sheer scale and power of the Canton’s sound. Obviously it can’t match a full-size 5.1 system, but to get such a dynamic and potent sound from a box measuring just 69mm high is nothing short of a miracle. The devices work fine when plugged straight into the tv but there's lipsync issues via arc which you can't adjust sufficiently so it's in sync.

Typically you’ll connect it in the exact same way as the Playbar. Again, I’ve connected it directly to the WD TV via the optical input. There isn’t really any setup although you can configure sound adjustments via the remote, all explained clearly in the manual. I found the default settings fine. You can place TVs weighing up to 40kg on top, provided the stand fits well within the 545mm by 300mm surface area. If you have a TV over 50in, I’d recommend stepping up to the DM75 or DM100. What’s more, design and build quality are superb, while the terrific remote and a smattering of new features make it a joy to use. If you own a whopping great TV and want to boost its sonic potential, there aren’t many better ways of doing it than the DM100. With its immense power, gorgeous detail and snappy dynamics, it’s the closest you’ll come to a proper home-cinema experience without buying a receiver and 5.1 speakers. There are a few minor sonic issues, but nothing that can’t be ironed out with a little tweaking.

Canton Digital Movie DM 75 - Q&A

If you have a limited budget and want to play music only in one room, the DM55 is superb value. TV and films sound very good and streaming via Bluetooth is unlikely to disappoint. The DM100 also does a fabulous job with music, thanks to its sophisticated hi-fi approach. The use of separate tweeters, mid-range drivers and subs gives you a lovely full-range sound, delving deep into the low frequencies without sounding tubby and sprinkling music with silky treble. There are big dynamics, focused vocals and a sense of refinement that you simply don’t get from any other soundbase. Should I buy the Canton DM100? Ok got it home now and did more testing also it says I have to run it in for 20 hours to get the best out of it. Joining the Stereo and DTS TruSurround from previous models is a new Voice mode that gives speech frequencies a boost, and a Hotel mode that lets you set a maximum volume limit. Two-channel Dolby Digital decoding is also on board. Canton DM100 – Setup & Operation But the DM100 isn’t all about that bass. First-class mid-range and treble reproduction lends impressive clarity and vigour, heightening the excitement when the action hots up. The snap of gunfire is fierce but never coarse, plus every scene is teeming with incisive top-end detail.

The issues I've described above I've never had on any bars before and have never seen before until I plugged this bar in... Once again Canton has shown the rest how it’s done with a soundbase that delivers an unusually powerful and refined performance. It’s every bit as impressive as the DM50, perhaps even more so, offering crisp sonic detail, dynamic midrange, excellent scale and commanding bass – the sort you simply don’t expect from such a slim box. The inclusion of Bluetooth apt-X is a huge bonus. Enjoy high-quality Bose audio throughout your room without the need for a home theatre kit thanks to the Bose Solo 5 Sound Bar. Impressive audio The Solo 5 TV Sound System is all you need to experience high-quality audio from your films, TV and music. Simply place it in front of your TV and connect it using either the supplied optical or coaxial cable to get started. Bose’s digital signal processing constantly optimises the sound to deliver the most immersive audio possible. It also normalises the volume between scene, so you aren’t distracted by a sudden increase in volume when the on-screen action intensifies. Universal remote A fully programmable universal remote is included, so you can control the sound bar along with your TV, DVD player, satellite box and more with ease. Make the most of your multimedia with the Bose Solo 5 Sound Bar. Another minor bum note is Surround mode, which does little to enhance your enjoyment, aside from a gentle widening of the soundstage. It’s fine but you lose the directness of Stereo mode. As TVs get thinner, the laws of physics dictate that sound quality must get worse! There’s simply no room for decent speakers. Hence the rise in popularity of sound bars and bases. The difference between them is simply that sound bars usually sit in front of the TV whereas sound bases normally sit underneath the TV. However both have options for positioning them elsewhere. As with streamed music, the bass can be a bit unruly at times – when Sly Stallone remotely blows up his own helicopter I hoped for a smooth LF tidal wave washing over me, but got something less distinct – and even the dedicated Voice mode doesn’t reach down far enough to give any extra clarity to Sly’s ultra-low oscillations. It has one optical audio input which Sonos recommend you connect directly to your TV. Then you connect your Sky box, PlayStation, DVD player etc via HDMI. This does require your TV to have optical out (most recent TVs have this). Otherwise you’ll need to invest in an analogue to digital audio converter. The DM 75 is a surprisingly good Bluetooth music player too, making the most of its three-way driver complement and aptX support. It digs out details that go missing on lesser soundbases and renders basslines with great agility. Verdict Before I request a replacement and sit without a soundbar I'm paying for for potentialy 2 weeks i thought i should spend the time to post here about the issue and see if anyone could help or offer advice!
