You can also read about more Bullgryn Tactics and also about magnetising your Bullgryns and Ogryns. And thanks for reading this Bullgryns vs Ogryns article.

However, the rages of such a savage individual are a thing to behold as their primitive minds aggressively lash out at the source of their ire. This propensity towards violence often serves to make their legendarily short tempers even shorter, while an Ogryn Bulwark at the height of his anger is a rampaging whirlwind of destruction that dashes his foes to pieces with the sheer force of his blows.

In combat, the procedures enacted upon a Bone'ead's brain are put to the ultimate test as they confront numerous decisions and obstacles of command head on. However, their determination and inhuman stubbornness often see them through such situations, while their unique physiology more than compensates for any lapses in discretion or judgement. As a result, an experienced Bone'ead is often capable of leading his fellow Abhumans more or less where he is told with a little practice. Company Command Squad • Platoon Command Squad • Scion Command Squad • Tank Commander • Regimental Advisors • Commissar • Primaris Psyker • Tech-priest Enginseer • Priest I will probably go with two 4 melee Bullgryn squads with 2 of each shield type and put them in the valkyries.

Finally the leader of the squad. Wielding a dreadnoughts power claw as a power fist, I have considerable armor and green stuff modification ahead of me for this brute. Overall, I want him to be physically larger than all the rest and to stand out clearly in the group. I am even considering a Commisar type hat for him to wear as a sign of his devotion and importance to the Inquisitional warband. We have three Bullgryns in each Chimera and the rest of the Characters can fit too because ChimeraS can hold 12 models. Bullgryns count as 3 models each. The sight of a Bulwark on the battlefield often provides tremendous encouragement and inspiration to his comrades as he smashes through all who stand before him. Some Astra Militarum regiments view their Ogryns as a sort of champion, sending them forward whenever a particularly vicious adversary appears and looking to them when all seems lost and the unit is on the verge of being overwhelmed.

These movers get your Guardsmen where they need to be, then the Guardsmen die. Mission Accomplished. When the Ogryns were rediscovered on their homeworlds by the Imperium during the Great Crusade, the Imperial Army saw their military potential and began recruiting the Ogryns as close combat soldiers. The recruitment process was relatively easy by Imperial standards as Ogryns hardly needed any training; most Ogryns are quite capable of bringing down almost any enemy and their natural combat skills make them good assault troops. Bullgryns are essentially the only reliable close combat option when it comes to the armies of the Astra Militarum. These units come as groups of three, but you can and probably should pay for more. You have the option to have units of up to nine of these bad boys running round.

The Banesword has been a recent summer fling with me in the Sunset 9th Edition. It felt pretty slept on, with its prettier older sibling, the Shadowsword, getting most of the attention from gamers because of the hefty damage stat on its Volcano Cannon (no change there for the record). Tonight I made good progress towards finishing the modeling for my Bullgryns. The Sergeant is looking pretty complete and I might be ready to prime shortly. The process to create him was very spontaneous and I think I shall have to put together some good fluff for him. Dreadnought power arm and a ripper gun makes for a beastly combo. He also has an old curved sword from the fantasy Ogre kit. I had to remove the hand that was holding the sword, but that worked out nicely. For me, the Bullgryns are excellent at melee and if you want a melee unit in your Astra Militarum force then the Bullgryns is an auto-include. I have already done Cadian Snipers vs Ratlings and to some extent, the Leman Russ Tactics article fits this series too.

It was suggested via the new chat feature on this blog that I should consider doing some sort of Trade-Off Series. My Cadian Snipers vs Ratlings article is of this style. And so here we are. For my first article, we will look at Bullgryns vs Ogryns. These simplistic Abhumans dwell on worlds far from the Emperor's light, and often fall into the worship of the Ruinous Powers. The servants of Chaos also sometimes forcibly conscript Ogryns into their ranks.

So while it can shoot – this is fairly poor. With no AP and at S4 it’s good against horde armies and their squishy troops but for 45 points a model you want to be doing more than killing Guardsmen and Eldar Guardians.
