John S. Kloppenborg Verbin, Excavating Q: The History and Setting of the Sayings Gospel (Minneapolis, MN: Fortress Press 2000) The Sayings Source presumably originated in (north) Palestine, since its theological perspective is directed primarily to Israel. The proclamations of judgment at the beginning and end of the document are directed against Israel (cf. Luke 3.7-9Q; Luke 22.28-30Q), numerous logia are centered on Palestine by their geographical references and the cultural world they assume (cf. only Luke 7.1Q; 10.13-15Q), the bearers of the Q tradition understand themselves to be faithful to the Law (cf. Luke 16.17Q; Luke 11.42Q), and Q polemic is directed against Pharisees (cf. e.g. Luke 11.39b-44Q). Jesus was amazed when he heard this. He told his followers, "I'm telling you the truth: I haven't found such trust even in Israel." Luther Blissett" was a nom de plume for four Italian authors ( Roberto Bui, Giovanni Cattabriga, Federico Guglielmi and Luca Di Meo) who were part of the "Luther Blissett Project", which ended in 1999. They now write under the name Wu Ming.

This interpretation stems from the authors describing Q as a "handbook of survival skills", which might cast a revealing light on the book's ending. But, this is just one of the many interpretations that have emerged following publication. [ citation needed] Then the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the empires of the world and their glory and told him, (6) "I'll give you all these, (7) if you'll bow to me."

So I'm telling you not to worry about your life, about what you'll eat; or about your body, what you'll wear. (23) Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothes? (24) Think about how the ravens don't sow, reap, or gather into barns, yet God feeds them. Aren't you more valuable than the birds?

The following translation has been committed to the public domain and may be freely copied and used, changed or unchanged, for any purpose. To what, then, can I compare this generation? What's it like? (32) It's like children sitting in the marketplaces calling to each other:Everyone who divorces his wife and remarries is unfaithful to her, and whoever marries someone who's divorced is unfaithful too. The protagonist is driven by a lust for a self-determined life, not any sense of a spiritual mission. The papal spy is working on the mission of Carafa to maintain the fundament of the catholic church through the reformation. The fundament is fear of god which is threatened by protestantism and it's central principle "sola fide", i.e. the justification by faith alone.

Love your enemies, (28) and pray for those who persecute you. (35) You'll become children of your Father, who makes the sun rise on those who are evil and those who are good, and sends rain on those who are just and those who are unjust. The whole book offers an irritating point of view for somebody who is used to lutheranism as the driving force behind the reformation in Germany. In Q, Luther is rather part of the establishment and the papacy is instrumentalizing him against the more violent arms of the reformation as well as to curb the ambitions of the emperor Karl V. Here, the anabaptist movement is the focus of the story. They are mostly militant and form the left wing of the reformation. They advocate the renouncement of private property, a liberal sexual moral and most of all don't accept any profane government. The true evil force in Q are the ones who pull the strings behind the scenes: beside the inquisition these are foremost the bankers represented by the Fuggers. The devil led him to Jerusalem, set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said, "If you're God's Son, throw yourself down, (10) because it's written, 'God will put God's angels in charge of you,' (11) and 'On their hands they'll bear you up, so that you don't dash your foot against a stone.'"Ma questo non toglie al romanzo la sua munificenza letteraria, la sua rivisitazione storica, le sue emozioni che trasudano dai battiti di un uomo e nutrono la convinzione di essere stato uno dei fortunati ad aver letto Q. Troppo netta l'antistorica demarcazione fra "buoni" e "cattivi". I'm telling you that John is greater than anyone who's been born, but whoever is least in God's reign is still greater than he, (29) because John came to you […] the toll collectors and […] (30) but […] him.
