About this deal

Akarnae was a wonderfully written, a mild fantasy that is not only entertaining but engaging. Reminiscent of Harry Potter, fans of light fantasy will enjoy this series, especially the younger teen audience. Looking forward to book two and seeing where debut author Lynette Noni takes the series. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Then, during Scars and Silence (Jordan's story), Alex arrives to the Combat (that she shares with Kaiden) classes early, because she is looking for him, and he hadn't attended the past lessons. There also so many other amazing characters in this series that make it worth reading from when you start the book right up until the end of the book. The stealth and Subterfuge class made up of Kaiden, Blink, Pipsqueak, Skyla Fay and Tom Barrett all of these characters were all amazing and added something to the story in there own right. It was good to see Kaiden return in this one and i'm surprised to see the relationship forming between Alex and himself because i honestly don't see anything myself and i do see something more between Alex and Jordan.

Bear was with Jordan when Alex first arrived in Medora. Instantly, the three become best friends and hang-out together all the time. Bear was always being the honest and less cheeky one of her friends. I miss the library! It was such am amazing concept and it had so much potential, but in this book it is just a convenient way for Alex and her posse to get to places she could not get to otherwise. Like Raelia/fairyland or Meya. Sulk.

And guess what? NO instalove, no love triangles or anything! These three best friends will just stay friends. What a breath of fresh air! I’ve come to love Lynette Noni and her stories like few things in these past couple of months. It is a combination of multiple factors that make her books a second home to me, nothing different from what I would expect from her. Let's get the minor dislikes out of the way. When Alex stumbles from one doorway into a new land, I felt she was a bit slow to determine that this was something supernatural. It was also bizarre to me that the first person she meets is the very enemy that has been seeking her out for hundreds/thousands of years. One very minor pet peeve at the beginning: For a book that starts in Oregon, the author used the British spelling of the word enrol that was a bit distracting for me - "enrol"/"enrolment". But after that start for me, I began to fall into the story. Alex meets Darrius, not knowing he is Headmaster Marselle, in the libraries inner section. He helps and guides her on the rest of her journeys throughout the series.

Alex finds herself in an unfamiliar face flat on her stomach in a green glade. The first person to find her is Aven Dalmarta who she in her thoughts believes is ridiculously handsome. He says that he has been looking for her for a while and paces away. Alex is left confused and unsure about where she is when Jordan Sparker and Bear Ronnigan find her. She tells them about her current predicament (being from Freya and having no idea where she is). They express confusion at that as no one from Freya has ever come to Medora via any means. They immediately take her to Akarnae Academy where she meets Administrator Jarvis who helps her sort out her crisis. She is hysterical for a time until he tells her that she must wait for Headmaster Marselle When she tells this to her friends, she is afraid that they'll hate her but they wave her of, laughing. Alex has to go to Meya to convince the Meyarins to help stop Aven's plans to become King of Meya. One of the most appealing aspects of The Medoran Chronicles is the adventure. Comparable to the Harry Potter series, it appeals to young adult and mature middle grade readers as the storyline is morally uncomplicated and doesn't rely on a romance to develop characters or further the storyline which really is a breath of fresh air. I loved the attraction blooming between Kaiden and Alex and hoping the third book explores a potential romance between the two. Kaiden is present and surprises Alex by asking her about her trip to the past - something he wasn't supposed to know about. Later, when Alex discovers that he is Master Athora's protégé, he explains how his gift enabled him to know that.

When they arrive there, she heads of to sign in and while she's on her way, she's dunked right into a fountain as she is the 'newbie' for it's the school's 'tradition' to do that to all new initiates. While walking around the campus after her incident, she finds a glowing doorway to a world that she had never seen. She hesitates for a second before stepping in, into the unknown. This series is so much better than I expected! The first one was quite obviously Harry Potter-inspired but with this second novel the story has certainly taken on its own life, making it quite an exciting read.

Let’s start with the positives. I’ll give credit where credit is due, Lynette Noni is a captivating writer, you can be in any mood and be pulled into her worlds with ease and in such a few lines. Not many authors are as captivating as she is and this is coming from someone who isn’t a fan on the series. I will however keep an eye out on Noni’s work because her mind is just fantastic.

She believes that she has it easy but he tells her that in fact, she has scored remarkably well in her test and Jordan tells her that many people can only dream of being and Epsilon in anything. She ends up with insta-friends for literally no reason other than that they were there when she showed up Lynette Noni is a masterful storyteller. Her characters steal into your heart and won't let go!" — Maria V. Snyder, New York Times bestselling author of the Poison Study series
