We have used factors ranging from the company's customer service in its Household Items niche to the Domain Authority (DA). If you have more than 3 or 4 cameras and you want to keep the recordings around 30 days or more then recording motion events only is a better option (or upgrade the HDD to 5TB). I originally bought the G3 Flex camera about 12 months ago now and since then the price has gone up quite significantly. I think the price increase is in part due to them becoming increasingly difficult to get a hold of. Supply and demand I guess. The motion algorithm is set on Stable by default. The Enhanced version is more like a beta version for now. It should be better than the stable, but the results vary a lot per situation. I have tested enhanced and it completely missed a person walking through the motion zone. So I recommend just testing what works best for your situation. Smart Detections
The SpyPoint Flex has some stiff competition with some great cameras like the Bushnell Cellucore, Tactacam Reveal X/XB, and the Moultrie Mobile Edge for around the same price. Those cameras were all part of our Best Budget Trail Camera test, and the Flex lost out to those cameras on a few points: But, be warned this camera isn’t actually 100% waterproof. It does need to be in a somewhat sheltered position with an overhang. Somewhere like underneath a rain gutter for example will leave it out of direct weather. It’s still outside but being underneath a rain gutter will leave it sheltered from the worst of the wind and rain. Fine-tuning the motion detection takes a lot of time. I spent my own money on the SpyPoint Flex (rather than asking the company for a test model), because I needed a cell cam and I figured that if I happened to like it, I would write a review. I’ve had the SpyPoint Flex for two months, and I’m happy to report that it has performed well in both the field and in a standardized walkthrough test. To use Unifi Protect you can choose between an Unifi Cloud Key Gen2 Plus, Unifi Protect NVR, or an Unifi Dream Machine Pro. The main difference between the three is the number of cameras supported, the total amount of storage, and if they also can run your Unifi Network controller (SDN).
If you have a G4 camera then you can enable Smart Detections in the recording tab. At the moment you will have two options, person detection and vehicle detection. Indeed, some manufacturers don’t allow any access to online storage at all after an initial trial period, after which you need to pay for anything more than live feed access. It’s also worth bearing in mind that what starts out being free may not continue to be in future. Both the Wyze Cam Pan v3 and the Wyze Cam OG have smooth video, but each also suffers from a noticeable audio delay than is present in our top cameras. Although we might assume both Wyze models use the same processing hardware and technology, the audio delay present in the OG video is less than that of the Pan v3. Unifi Protect only works with Unifi Cameras. That isn’t a big deal, because Unifi offers a wide variety of models, suitable for pretty much every location. Split Screen Feature: It is the only smart monitor that allows you to view two cameras simultaneously on one screen, which is ideal for parents with multiple children or monitoring different areas of the baby's room. You can control and configure your whole Unifi Protect set up with the mobile app. I actually configured most of the Unifi Protect in the app. The only thing that is a bit hard to do, is to set up the motion zones. It can be done, but you might want to fine-tune it a bit on your computer. You can change out the hard drive if you need more than 10 days footage, the cloud key will support up to a 5tb hard drive, I believe. The main ones being that the Flex can be used indoors or outdoors and that the Flex gets it’s power and transmits data via ethernet cable. I originally chose the G3 Flex because I was looking for an all in one system for my office networking needs; a router, switch, access points and CCTV cameras. Ubiquiti’s prosumer range of networking equipment fitted my needs perfectly, so here we are.
