The result is reanimated heroes who combine skill with the deadly instinct typical of brain-eaters. Examples include Doctor Strange and Wong, who can access the same old spells, and Hawkeye with impeccable hunting strategies. The biggest problems arise from the limited time the screenwriters have to tell their stories. Some complex conflicts need to be resolved in a few lines of dialogue to fit into the narrow half-hour running time range. I’m really intrigued to follow the alternative story arc that the What If? series will give portray. This is a hard-to-find Pop if you don’t live in the US but it is not a Funko of Thor that we will really be looking for.
We just love the coloring and strong detailing of this figure above all the others, even the exclusives. Among all the stories in the anthology, “What would happen if… Zombies?!” was the one that aroused fans’ expectations the most, as it draws inspiration from the popular story by Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead.
We have said it before that we are not huge fans of the glow-in-the-dark Pops and the GITD Doctor Strange Supreme Pop does little to change our mind. In the fifth episode of What If…?, Marvel finally delivered zombies to the MCU. Funko once again dipped into the Marvel Zombies and gave us a massive set of new Pop figures based on the show.
Star Wars Funko Pops are some of the most popular, meaning literally every character has their own figurine. When Funko Pops was still in its infancy, the company released this limited edition Holographic Darth Maul that also glows in the dark. Unlike many special editions, 480 of these vinyl pop figures were made available to people attending 2012’s San Diego Comic Con. The BoxLunch figure is the one to buy if you are a true Pop collector but the common figure is really just as good. These Funko Pop vinyl models stand out because are they not only expensive but hard to find. There are many Funko Pops that have limited releases or are specially made to celebrate certain events or pop culture moments. These often appear on the internet well above the retail price. So when Bruce Banner falls from space to announce the arrival of Thanos, as happened in Avengers: Infinity War, the scientist is faced with a state of complete apocalypse and must join the resistance to survive the zombified superheroes leading undead herds. This 970 Gamora Funko with the Blade of Thanos is just so cool. A really great, common Pop that we want in our Funko collection.In the plot, Hank Pym’s trip to the Quantum Realm, seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp, has triggered an outbreak of a zombie virus. Disney+ is producing some really cool series both live-action and animation that are inspiring some really cool Pops. Two such series that spring to mind are WandaVision, the WandaVision Pops are just awesome and the Loki series and Loki Pops was/are pretty dam cool as well.
What If? gives us stories from other universes and timelines that give us a glimpse of an alternative path that characters could have taken. Here is another gold-colored Funko Pop that also happens to be one of the most expensive releases from the past few years. Only 40 of these figures of Hopper from Stranger Things were made. This is another Funko Pop inspired by Monster Cereal. This time Freddy Funko, Funko Pop’s mascot, is styled in the image of Frankenstein’s Monster, who is known to enjoy a bowl of strawberry-flavored cereal from time to time. This reinforces the sense of danger that permeates the entire episode. Although Bruce finds a team of hardened survivors, anyone can be killed by a minor slip, which frequently happens throughout the story. Funko POP!
