I’m not studying chart positions and stuff. We had a nice big number last year. That was fun.

An author and avid reader, who has seen and done so much, has many tales to tell. However, when it comes to book recommendations, her new love is a title that many Scots may remember with a grudge from their own childhood. Maar ook in Schotland slaat het noodlot toe, móét haar instinct het wel overnemen van haar angst en onzekerheid en voert ze een hobbelige maar veilige noodlanding uit. Ze strandt op Inchborn, een afgelegen eiland waar alleen Gregor, een norse ornitholoog verblijft, en ze zijn op elkaar aangewezen terwijl de storm blijft woeden. Hun totaal verschillende karakters botsen, wat leidt tot scherpe dialogen vol sarcasme en plaagstootjes en onbegrip voor de wijze waarop de ander in het leven staat, dus die redding vanaf het vasteland kan niet snel genoeg komen… Een van haar eerste opdrachten is het afzetten van de chagrijnige man Gregor Cameron. Hij gaat op een van de eilanden passen als vogelaar. Wanneer Morag een paar dagen later in een storm terecht komt en een noodlanding moet maken is de enige optie om te landen op dat eiland. Als dan ook nog eens de stroom uitvalt kan Morag geen kant meer op en zullen ze het een tijdje met elkaar moeten doen. But she is not convinced. “I don’t think writing is something you give up. There’s only so much piano you can play. You just end up working on something. Actually, Ian Rankin is on a year off and every time I see him I say, ‘Are you doing any work? ‘Just a bit.’”
