About this deal

In 2005, The English Whisky Co. Ltd got permission to build the first registered whisky distillery in England for over a century; it first release of single malt occurred in 2009; which became the only English Whisky to have been bottled and released for over 100 years. In 2013 The London Distillery Company began production of the first single malt whisky in London since Lea Valley Distillery closed in 1903. Three other English distilleries, also producing whisky by 2014, were The Cotswolds Distillery, Ludlow Distillery and The Lakes Distillery. However, the financially favorable Scotch production led many distilleries to move their businesses to Scotland. And at the early years of the 20th century, Lea Valley Distillery closed, marking the country’s century-long slumber in the whisky business. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. With The Norfolk Farmers, I wrote a recipe, but I took what I’d done in brewing. When you’re making beer, you use different malt to create different colours and flavours – say, crystal malt, or amber malt for a toffee character. The blend rested in medium-charred bourbon casks for the next few years until the distillery released the spirit during World Whisky Day in 2019. It was a limited-edition release of only around 500 bottles making it more expensive than other brands.

The distillery also uses an ancient variety of heritage rye, barley, and wheat, sustainably grown within the 50-mile radius of the TOAD area. It offers a 500ml bottle of Oxford Artisan 3-Year with 50% ABV for their single grain whisky. The English whisky distilleries are all at various stages of development with the oldest St George’s Distillery brewing whisky for nearly 20 years [17] and The Cotswolds distillery is the largest producer of whisky in England. [18] Brands [ edit ] No As far as we can tell, no-one has ever done peated whisky before in England. Why do it? Iain Henderson was here. Eventually he convinced them to do some, and we’ve kept doing it. We do it in one big lot once a year.

Armed with the best of ingredients, several concepts were considered, before the Distillery took shape and production of their range of superb single malts began. Age and maturity are two separate issues. Age is time. Maturity is the interaction between liquid and wood. We have a warmer climate here, and then there’s the nature of wood. You’ve all those other factors coming in. In Scotland, you might lose 2%. Here it’s 4-5%, so there’s more oxidation. We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. In 2015, Anno Distillery collaborated with Westerham Brewery to craft the first whisky in Kent County. Westerham Brewery is in charge of the fermentation, while the Anno Distillery in Marden is for the distillation process.

Then again, Clynelish is distinctly different to Macallan, but they’re still Scotch whisky. I hate that Highland, Lowland, Speyside thing, because every distillery has its own character. We should focus on what the distillery can give, rather than looking at the whole area. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2018/dec/19/10-best-uk-new-distilleries-whisky-gin-vodka-tours-tastings Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. The nose is punchy with toasty oak, cinnamon loaf, and vanilla sponge aroma clouded with the smell of peat smoke. The Oxfordshire Live.In the 1887 book The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom by Alfred Barnard, the following English distilleries were listed: [9] Our oldest whisky is 11 years old, in a Portuguese Cabernet Sauvignon wine cask. With wine casks you go through these peaks and troughs. It will be good, then it will go off, then good again. I used one of them in a tasting recently and it was the most popular whisky there. Personally, I think wine casks are difficult and I’m not a big fan, but that’s my palate. The name suggests a well-balanced smokiness with an intense chocolate taste and sherried sweetness on the palate. 9. The English Whisky Co. Whiskybase B.V.
