Description

The DS920+ is powered by a quad-core 2GHz Intel Celeron J4125 processor and has 4 gigabytes (GB) of DDR4 RAM that can be expanded to 8GB. It uses two whisper-quiet, multi-speed system fans to keep internal components cool and can be populated with 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA or SSD drives (hot swappable) for a total of 64 terabytes (TB) of internal storage. It also has two built-in M.2 SSD slots for cache acceleration (accessible from the bottom of the enclosure) and can be expanded to 144TB using a Synology DX517 Expansion Unit. The DS920+ supports the Btrfs and ext4 file systems and offers several RAID types, including Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR), Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10. Added a new Fast Repair mechanism to reduce the time needed for RAID repair based on storage usage and thus reduce the time of RAID degradation. Users can now create a Btrfs volume of up to 1 PB on specific Synology NAS models. This update automatically converts existing volumes that use the Btrfs (Peta Volume) file system to Btrfs. However, to create a volume larger than 200 TB, a RAID 6 storage pool and at least 64 GB of system memory are still required. Learn more

Surveillance Station must be updated to version 8.2.9-6459 or above to be compatible with this update. To avoid possible compatibility issues, users who installed Active Insight, Synology Photos, and Secure SignIn mobile applications during DSM 7.0 Preview/Beta programs should update the applications to the latest version after the DSM update. Added support for the RTF editor to allow users to preview notification message content and style in real-time when editing. Users can now enable the quota setting for shared folders that are located on volumes with data deduplication enabled.Fixed the issue where domain-related services might not resume working because the update of domain data could not be complete. Improved fan speed control based on the Synology network interface card temperature for 19-series and newer models. Refines the description for abnormal S.M.A.R.T test results and specifies the problematic S.M.A.R.T attributes. Fixed an issue where file access failed due to errors during soft link creation in Btrfs file systems.

Fixed an issue where Western Digital hard drives couldn't be detected upon bootup on the following models: RS4017xs+, RS3618xs, RS3617xs+, RS3617RPxs, DS3617xsII, DS3617xs. Users can now view the amount of used and free space for each storage pool and volume in Storage Manager. For users with the DS918+, it’s a marginal upgrade if you’re just using it for file sharing purposes. The faster processor will help with things like transcoding media, and VMs also run a bit better provided you’ve add in an extra RAM module.Added the ability to mount storage pools from drives that are inserted after the device has been powered on without interrupting system services.

Series: RS2818RP+, RS2418RP+, RS2418+, RS818RP+, RS818+, DS1618+, DS918+, DS718+, DS418, DS418play, DS418j, DS218+, DS218, DS218play, DS218j, DS118, RS3618xs, DS3018xsThese speeds are acceptable, but we really feel that Synology should have tried to up this by using 2.5GbE ports. Given the base cost of the DS920+ as well as the drives, we would have definitely have like to see the networking side of things also get an upgrade for faster transfer speeds.
