Keep in mind I am neither a steel, nor sharpening expert, but I use and sharpen my knives a lot and so I do have an "instinctive feeling" (totally non scientific of course) how a steel behaves. And so far I really like Spydercos Chinese S35VN! Just like before im looking for my next Spyderco but this time a UK legal carry , hope the HH UK pk isnt going too be long ! For this reason, the Tenacious is more of a large utility knife than a true EDC. Sure, it can be carried every day, but it’s a good size knife.

I will say that the build quality of the Tenacious is impressive considering the price. I am pleased with the fit and finish and whoever manufactured this for Spyderco did a good job. Spyderco Tenacious Review – Final ThoughtsThanks so much for the great question. Oddly enough I have not yet had an opportunity to handle a Persistence yet. I really should just buy the whole lineup.

Seems to keep an edge about the same as the S30V I know, and definitely longer than something like VG10 (as it should) High quality as are all this companies products I needed a one hand opening knife. This fits the bill perfectly. Will be part of my EDC On the other hand: As it is now it is very easy to make custom scales for the Tenacious (exposed, not nested full liners). No milling out of the scales needed, but just two flat slabs of whatever material.

The leaf shaped blade of the Tenacious is made of 8Cr13Mov Stainless steel. 8Cr13Mov is a more inexpensive steel that is comparable with Aus 8. However, Spyderco does an excellent job with the heat treat on this steel and my experiences have found that 8Cr13Mov sharpens well and holds a good edge. That said, compared to harder, more expensive steels you will have to sharpen the knife more frequently. My only negative point is the same as the Persistence in that the " Spydy hole " needs attention as it is pretty sharp and tough on the thumb especially while its breaking in.Spyderco describes their blade as being "leaf shaped". If you are familiar with their other knives, then you will immediately recognize this familiar shape. With a fairly long straight spine and an almost imperceptible drop to it the long and graceful cutting-edge curves up to the point with a decent belly for slicing. I like a lot of the chinese designs, but the fit and finish and overall quality of my Chinese produced spydies are far behind what I see from the other factories. Well the pricing makes sense...a lw Tenacious in s35vn and a lw native in s30v should be roughly comparable, imo. Plenty of people prefer the Tenacious design, but want it in a better steel. Now's their chance! The Tenacious has an overall length of 7-3/4″, a 3 3/8″ blade, weighs 4.0 oz, and is made in China. The blade is not only long but it is fairly wide (from edge to spine) at almost an 1.5″ inches. This is a large knife for EDC (Every Day Carry), and people contemplating the Tenacious for that use may prefer it’s smaller brother, the Persistence or the Ambitious. Here is a size comparison with the Mini Griptilian and Kershaw Skyline so you can see what I mean: KnifeCenter, Inc will not sell automatic opening knives to any customer unless such sale or receipt

Personally, I find a smaller knife works for most of my EDC needs. I can cut apples and stuff with a smaller knife, which is about the extent of my usual food prep chores. When I am in the kitchen I almost always opt for a dedicated chefs knife. If you need a folding food prep blade for say, camping or a lot of picnics or something I’d consider a larger knife. When it comes to making no-nonsense tactical knives that are perfect for everyday carry, Spyderco tops the list with high-quality designs made in a manufacturing language that is uniquely their own. There are plenty of everyday carry knives to choose from, but none cut quite the same look and perform the same in hand as a Spyderco. Unfortunately, you usually have to spend a pretty penny to get your hands on one. But when Spyderco introduced the Tenacious, it turned that idea on its head. That's because the Tenacious was made to provide just about everything that made a Spyderco knife great for EDC at a much more accessible price point than many other Spyderco models. While it was a budget knife, it punched above its weight, making it a strong value for the money that was hard to ignore. But it's been a decade since its introduction, and we've seen a lot of changes in the EDC knife industry since then. So, is the Spyderco Tenacious worth it today? Read on to see whether it's still the choice to make, and how it holds up against the competition. And so I had to make tough decisions, but, as said: If the S35VN Tenacious was not a knife I could get once more anytime I want to anyway, or if it was a bit lighter (about like a Manix LW) I never would have sold it.I owned a Tenacious about a decade ago and found it pretty cheap-feeling compared to a basic Endura... Easily the best knife I own, absolutely no blade play, cuts paper like nothing I’ve ever seen out of the box, feels strong and dense but still weighing very little. Just an all round spectacular knife i know some people here have made it well known that they love the knife, but even here, i've seen little about how the steel is performing for people. so, all of you that have it, do you find it to be as good as your other knives in s35vn? how is the heat treat? The Tenacious "lightweight" should actually be, well, a lightweight - I guess they could achieve that by just a partial liner (like on the Millie 1) on one scale, and pretty much no liner on the other.
