Description

The Skullcandy Aviators have a soft leather (or leather-like) material where the cup meets your cranium, and the resulting fit is very comfortable. Over time, you won’t necessarily forget that you’re wearing headphones, but the experience isn’t an uncomfortable one. The soundstage is not actually very wide in open standard, but for a small closed portable, it’s pretty impressive. And the imaging while a bit left/rightish still utilizes the width quite well. Just htat there’s no depth whatsoever.

But of course all those pretty looks won’t mean a thing unless it sounds good right? Well honestly I have to admit it sounds way better than I expected. That’s 2-0 already to Skullcandy and I have only had it for a few days.Skullcandy hail from Utah and is approaching its tenth anniversary in business. The brand focuses on the “Outdoor sports” demographic of surfin’, skatin’and basejumpin’ adrenalin junkies. The Aviator is part of the over ear range and partners distinctive styling with sonic involvement from the Roc Nation artist group that includes Jay-Z. Who knew that these legends of rap would be such capable headphone engineers?

These are very comfy and are easy to put on however, despite it supposedly being a over ear headphone, the wear more like an on ear, with most of the apd sitting on my earlobe. Not a big deal as the pads are very soft. FiiO’s latest entry into the mobile market and I have high hopes for this paring. In short, this is a great match up also. The software eq mode on the FiiO was the tipping point. Upping the treble to 4, the gain to 6 and the bass to 2 gave me exactly what I wanted – more sparkle in the top end, a little bass oomph and smooth mids with great vocals. Not quite as forward sounding as the powerful PB2 nevertheless the E17 amp did a great job with nice separation, better than average sound stage and a very high degree of musicality. On a price and performance, this is the match for me but the Pb2 just edges out for me if you happen to have that in your collection. As previously mentioned, the included cable for the Skullcandy Aviator is punctuated by a remote with a microphone and volume control. It’s made of the same cheapish plastic as some of the accents, so be wary of this breaking in the future. It's also very worth mentioning that the sensitivity of these cans is relatively low, so they may not work with all mobile phones or music devices, and you should try them in person with your device if possible. You can customize your comfort and fast charge your device with fast fuel technology. Of course, these features come at a much heftier price tag compared to Skullcandy. Comfort If you’re the type to not believe in burn in, you’ll probably not give the aviators a chance. On first listen, the sound was to put it bluntly horrible. Muffled, slow and congested are the initial impressions I would give to them. But after even a few hours, the sound clears up considerably. Enough that I thought, hey they actually sound good!If you are on a budget constraint, Skullcandy is a more prudent choice because it can deliver you all the features of a premium brand for casual listeners. Certainly visually impressive, the Skullcandy Aviators offer middling performance for a mobile set of headphones, but they certainly are far from ideal for the price you’d pay. Despite their fashionability, they have quite a few concerns that warrant pause before buying something.

Skullcandy devices are far more affordable, cost-efficient, and economical options when it comes down to price. Like all over-ear headphones, you can make size adjustments to the Aviators by pulling up and down on the polished silver slide rail that forms the curved shape of the headband. The frame also bends at the top of the both earcups, allowing you to fold them into the headband for safe storage, although we're worried that the continued joint strain from folding and unfolding could damage the structural integrity over the long run. When it comes to comfort, Beats has some upper hands over Skullcandy. Beats headphones are mostly a perfect fit for everyone as you can customize it using software and adjustment clips. In addition, Beats headphones feature heavy padding that enables you to use them for longer listening sessions. Both Beats and Skullcandy offer quality products at different price points for many customers. But Beats can be significantly pricier because of some of the premium and niche features it provides to its customers. In this article, you will find a detailed comparison between these two companies that will help you understand which would be the best option for you. Differences Between Skullcandy and Beats

Honestly my favourite right here (but it should be, considering how much the wa6 costs), it now warmer, bassier while being clearer and more detailed, offering the most dynamic sound yet. The mids are more inline with the rest of the sound which can be good or bad depending on your taste. If you are a hardcore audio junkie, Beats might be a much preferable option for you since their overall soundproofing, bass boosting, and technological aspects are superior to that of Skullcandy. Since Beats is a subsidiary of Apple, they get to use the proprietary Apple W1 chip that is highly efficient for the overall user experience. That said, the rest of the build quality is top-notch; Skullcandy goes the extra mile to reinforce the cable connection that's notorious for headphone hardware failure, and the tough polycarbonate frame forms a protective skeleton for the vinyl-lined headband. We're also assured that the Aviators will withstand a beating thanks to the nylon-braided cable that extends 1.3 meters past the left earcup, but we hope Skullcandy will push its durability further and allow detachable cables in future versions. Skullcandy has a specific name for each model they release, so it can be unclear how their headphones are categorized. Sometimes, there are feature-specific variants of that model available. For this brand, we consider these variants (and their base model) as constituting a lineup. This includes the following:These look really nice (to me at least). While style is at the near bottom of the list of things to look for in a headphone i can't deny i like the look of these unlike many other gaudy skullcandy products. Ultimately, we preferred the accuracy and overall fullness of audio on the Aviators to the overwhelming bass and distorted highs on the Loops. Phone Calls
