About this deal

Plus I really liked that Molly always invited Alex to lunch, dinner, etc. For Molly it was no big deal but for Alex it was basically her love language! XD Which was kinda funny to realize while I read the book, because due to Alex’s circumstances she never has all too much money to spend on food or nice things and here comes Molly spoiling her senseless with treats. *lol* This was really cute because Molly didn’t even think about it and just wanted to do something good for Alex. Thankfully Alex was one of those girls that didn’t take offense and actually could accept the offer. I’m going to start by saying that my experience with rom-com and lgbt novels is near non-existent. That said, THIS WAS AWESOME. The kind of book I would love to reread like the first time. Molly has my winning socially inept personality, and Alex my occasional boldness and snarky humor, so it was no problem relating with them both. This novel shoved my butterflies all over the place and is as sweet as it can possibly get, without ever becoming too much. I lost count of how many times it made me laugh and smile. Swooning is also guaranteed. Perfect chemistry. Endless supply of quotes and moments to remember by. This book has romance, hijinks and the crushing awkwardness of college freshmen all in one. Finally seeing the "makeover the girl to get her love" trope done well is a fantastic bonus too. The writers have clearly put a lot of themselves in the novel and the writing was beautiful. Alex and Molly are two girls who don't belong on the same planet, let alone the same college campus . . . The one place where I wished for more was the budding romance between Alex and Molly. As they get to know each other, I feel like we don't see much romantic development beyond a couple scenes showing some physical attraction. I wish we got some more scenes convincing us why they're good for each other, and like each other romantically.

She Gets the Girl explores various themes that resonate with readers, one of which is the importance of vulnerability. Both main characters, Alex and Molly, struggle to open up to others and show their true selves. Their journey towards allowing themselves to be vulnerable highlights the significance of embracing authenticity in relationships. One thing I loved was how much this book not only focuses on the romance but really treats Alex and Molly as individual people who grow and change. How did you develop their individual journeys and make them intertwine so seamlessly?I began to resent the stories with their heterosexual main characters and heterosexual subplots. The idea they enforced that the only way was… well, straight. I stopped reading for leisure. My storytelling obsession would be occupied by kid’s shows and video games, where things like that would remain more or less ambiguous. We stare at each other for a long moment, her chest heaving, the sharp lines of her collarbones intensifying. My eyes glaze over as I pause on individual names: Melissa, Ben, Mike. Coworkers that never became more than acquaintances. People I’ve met working behind the bar or at school, each text chain I try to start left empty as I see how I just… lost touch with them, months passing since the last text as I ignored their questions or their offers to hang out, so busy with schoolwork and taking care of my mom I didn’t have time for anything else. The hipster dude clutching an IPA like it’s his firstborn son. The girl wearing a faded Nirvana shirt that screams Urban Outfitters. Brendan, the bartender, too distracted to realize he’s made not one but two rumless rum and Cokes. All of them have their eyes glued to the stage. When I finally fell upon “She Gets the Girl,” I didn’t have high expectations. Now that I’d found what I’d wanted, I was afraid that it wouldn’t be any good, and that I’d be right where I started my search.

Comedia Romántica] [LGTB] [Altamente Recomendable] [La leyenda en sí misma, Sr. Siete-Centavos] [¿Voy a vivir, Doc?] [Los patines son sólo una escena, una escena adorable, pero no es patinaje artístico, ni derby tampoco]Natalie squeezes her eyes shut, angry now, like she’s found the answer, but it’s one she didn’t want. “Megan Baker? That girl that plays the triangle in that Fleetwood Mac cover band? For real, Alex?” My eyes fly open and my heart hammers in my chest as I jerk away, those three words bringing with them a flood of moments much different from this one. But I also realize most of them are… hookups. Or, I guess, potential hookups, just like Natalie said. A lot of them. Girls I flirted with just to see what would happen, knowing I could never commit to more than just this moment. Knowing I could never have more than the temporary. She Gets the Girl was supremely cute. It’s one of those books that leaves you with a smile on your face. And yes, while there’s emotional ups and downs, mistakes and fights on the way, it’s also just super swoony. This is perfect if you’re looking for a queer YA contemporary! Keep reading this book review for my full thoughts. Summary

There are ten like that. Maybe more. Just some generic description of a girl followed by where I’d met her. No. You just … look … you look … really pretty,” I manage to get out, looking at the way the jeans accentuate the curve of her hips.

I get the hype around this book now! This was really such a cute romance and so easy to read. The two MCs were great and Alex was extremely relatable. <33 You don’t have to be. You were yourself with him. You found something you knew about him and used that to work your way in. That’s all it is. I just want you to be more you, instead of a little ball of quiet anxiety in the corner of the party.”While there was a lot of sweetness, and lightly funny moments, I was surprised that this book had me close to tears more than once. There are some very emotional parts, and even just feeling badly for a character that is embarrassed or hurt -because it’s like you take a bit of the hit with them-. There were some parts of this book that were really well written, including close psychic distance, which means you actually feel what the main characters are going through and I love that as a reader.
