About this deal

The ultimate Pokémon board game? Master Trainer saw multiple editions, covering the regions of Kanto and Johto and two geneations of Pokémon. | Image credit: Hasbro/The Pokémon Company With its easy rules and gently competitive gameplay, Labyrinth has become a family classic for a reason. Its Pokémon version is no different, applying the familiar faces from the series - including the ever-popular Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle - to its time-tested formula. Pokémon Master Trainer is considered by many as the ultimate Pokémon board game. First released in 1997 - only a year after the Pokémon series made its debut - the board game aims to recreate the experience of the video games on the tabletop, taking players from their first steps into the region Kanto (or Johto in its later 2000 edition) to catch and evolve Pokémon before a climactic battle with rival Gary Oak or the Elite Four.

The Pokémon board game replaces the basic patterns on Nine Tiles’ cards with Pokémon such as Pikachu, Eevee, Cyndaquil and Piplup, but otherwise leaves its very simple rules untouched. A pattern card is turned over in the middle of the table, before all of the players race to match the arrangement by swapping and flipping their grid of nine tiles. The original Point Salad is one of the best card games in recent years, combining a clever dynamic scoring system with its colourful foodie theme. Players collect double-sided cards from a grid in the middle of the table, which can either be formed into sets of vegetables or flipped over to add new ways to score using those sets. This item includes 1x Game board, 34x Maze cards, 24x Treasure cards, 4x playing pieces, 1x Set of Instructions. This game is suitable for 2-4 players. Suitable for ages 7 years and up. Fully complies with all necessary UK and EU testing standards. Ravensburger are one of the largest board game manufacturers, with millions of games sold worldwide. Our family games make ideal gifts for boys and great gifts for girls. Great replay value - navigating through labyrinth's ever-changing maze is different every time you play, meaning it can be played over and over again. They make a great birthday gift or smashing Christmas gift Article number:Players start the game with one of the iconic starter Pokémon from video games Red, Blue and Yellow - Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Pikachu - or Clefairy or Meowth, in a nod to their appearance in the animated Pokémon TV series. (Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile replace Pikachu, Clefairy and Meowth in the Johto edition.) A product's "Manufacturer's Age" range on Toysrus.ca & Babiesrus.ca is provided by the product's manufacturer. This suggested age range may be based on what age range the manufacturer recommends will like the product best, or what age range is appropriate based on safety information and restrictions. Labyrinth is a classic family board game, first released in the 1980s and remaining a firm favourite among younger players since. In its Pokémon board game remake, the original’s hunt for treasure inside a shifting maze is swapped for a search for Pokémon. Seeing this nice and well structured game themed around a great brand like Pokémon makes the game even more appealing. If you are a fan of the little monsters like me, I would definitely recommend trying Labyrinth: Pokemon as you would find the game really enjoyable. A fast-paced Pokémon puzzler Nine Tiles Pokémon Dokoda sees players race to match a pattern card by flipping and moving the Pokémon tiles in their grid. | Image credit: Oink Games/The Pokémon Company

One aspect I would like to mention is that the game comes with a plastic insert to organize the components. Although the insert helps, it does not seems it was designed specifically for this version of the game thus some of the components just fit into it instead of having a comfortable and dedicated space. Nothing major but it would have been great to have a space for each standee and a rounded slot for all the poke-balls. I’m Gonna Catch ‘Em All While the go-to Pokémon tabletop game is its long-running trading card game, there are plenty of great Pokémon board games out there for those craving something a little different. The gaming board and the tiles have not changed much from the original version. Instead of a labyrinth we have a forest theme and instead of objects we have Pokemon but overall the board look exactly as in the original game. Quality of the cardboard component is as good as expected and the graphic is nice and very thematic. The components of this boardgame are very close to those of the classic games with two nice surprises. First, the cards with the objects to locate have been substituted by poke balls depicting the Pokemon to catch. The players markers have also been re-themed switching the wizard miniatures for standees of the four Pokemon classic starting characters. The changes are very thematic and a nice addition to the game although I would have loved to have plastic miniatures instead of the standees. Nine Tiles Pokémon Dokoda is another Pokémon-themed remake of a popular board game. This time, Nine Tiles from Japanese studio Oink Games, known for its inventive and compact micro-games. The game continues one turn after the other with no fixed duration. The first player collecting all their Pokemons wins. Will This Game Be The Very Best
