Regarding connectivity, the Kidizoom Duo features a smartphone-style USB Micro-B 2.0 port for dragging and dropping photos onto your computer. As the price point suggests, there’s no Bluetooth or wifi. The Vtech Kidizoom features a nice 2.4-inch screen and attractive menus It features a 12MP main camera, a 7MP selfie camera, and can record video at up to 4K. As an iOS device, it also has access to a whole world of photo applications on the App Store, and photos can be easily shared online. Images are pretty basic as you can expect from a 2-megapixel camera aimed at children. They're clear enough for seeing on the camera's screen. If you wish to print them you'll be able to get away with 8x6 inch images at the largest. As the iPhone isn’t quite as robust as some of the other entries on our list, it’s better suited to older children, though there are plenty of tough cases available to protect it. When you’re not taking photos, there’s a photo editor in which existing photos can be tweaked. And for those long car journeys, the VTech Kidizoom comes armed with five surprisingly fun video games. The camera doesn't feature any manual controls, with everything decided automatically. Although you can turn flash off or to auto mode yourself as well as set a timer. In the settings menu there is the option to change the image resolution of the front camera from 2 megapixels to 0.3 megapixels, to save memory space if your child is snap-happy. You can also choose to turn photo optimisation on or off, and there is the option of a self timer mode too. Of course, you might be saying – it’s a kids’ camera, man; what are you on about? Well, I agree, and that leads me to the next problem. Ergonomics In my case, we bought a Kidizoom Due for our 5-year-old daughter, and she loves it despite being barely able to operate it. In contrast, when my son was around the same age, he inherited an old Canon Powershot A620 – a vastly superior camera that in my opinion – is easier to use. Overall, the Vtech Kidizoom Duo is a fantastic idea to get younger children interested in photography. Not only does it keep them engaged, with fun noises and modes, it also lets them explore creatively and develop photographic skills. When they get bored of the camera function, they can also play games, making it a great choice for a day out. They'll be able to capture memories for themselves, and keep themselves amused no matter where you go.

Vtech Kidizoom Duo VerdictThere are loads of filters and effects built in, allowing for plenty of creativity. And, if paired with a smartphone it can share printed images straight to social media and even be used to print photos that have been taken on the phone. Camera: Opens the camera, and pressing the star button allows you to add frames, stamp, funny face, carnival mirror and kaleidoscope effects. There are also options for shake effects, 3x image burst modes and auto portrait modes. There are of course parental control settings, to control the play time allowed on the 5 built in games. The camera seems pretty responsive, each image takes a second or two to process and save. There shouldn't be too many tantrums while waiting for the camera to load, with a start-up time of about 5 seconds. For teenagers looking to get serious about their photos or study photography, the Canon EOS 2000D is an excellent choice.
Beyond standard picture taking, most digital cameras also offer up the ability to record video clips, a feature that may be well worth considering. The Vtech Kidizoom Duo is not an easy camera to use. For instance, the Kidizoom is burdened with multi-tier menus and twelve separate control points – some of which integrate multiple functions. As a result, the Kidizoom Due is no easier to use than my wife’s Sony A5000. The Vtech Kidizoom Duo has a 2 megapixel front camera and VGA rear/selfie camera. The front camera is capable of 4x digital zoom. There are two rell rubberised hand grips on either side, and in each one there is space for 2 AA batteries. The camera comes with batteries included. The camera features 'binocular' vision, avoiding the need for little ones to squint into a single eyepeice. In itself, the Vtech Kidizoom Duo is a well-made product with a very generous feature set. I also get the feeling a lot of love went into its design. However, the Kidizoom Duo does have some problems. Image Quality There are no means of wireless connection - to get photos off the camera you'll either have to extract the memory card or plug the camera into a computer.
