Georgia was born in 1995 - the same year my oldest child was born. I cannot help but think of the milestones her parents and older sister have been deprived of when a disgusting POS (Piece of Shit) murderer cut her life tragically, and horrifically short. The couple, who now live near to Market Drayton, even moved out of Telford to see if a fresh start would help them to ease their grief. The judge added: “After the killing you took sexual pleasure in her body, then treated her body with contempt, dumping her in a remote area.” All the agencies are at fault and should have seen the red flags that this young psychopath was able to lie, deceive and get away with at such a young age. I was disgusted at how the police treated Steve and Lynn, especially considering Steve was a serving member of the force. Mr Crigman said Reynolds's fascination with Miss Williams was undeterred and he had written a gruesome story on his mobile phone entitled “Georgia Williams in Surprise” in which she died following a sex game.

Jo Sollis, editor, acquired world all language rights directly from the authors. The book will be released on 25th May to commemorate Georgia 10 years after her death.

Who is Jamie Reynolds?

Three days after she vanished, Reynolds was arrested at a budget hotel in Scotland. On 31 May, Georgia's body was found in woodland near Wrexham, around 50 miles from her home. We decided to take the plunge and do it, it's taken hours of meetings and Zoom calls. It's been a battle to find a publisher but here we are now ready to go."

Our Georgia is a "powerful and moving" memoir which details the aftermath of Georgia Williams’ murder. She was killed in 2013 by "college pal" Jamie Reynolds. The publisher continued: "But when Georgia’s devastated mother Lynnette and father Steve questioned the events leading to their daughter’s death, they discovered it was also entirely preventable. At the time of Georgia’s disappearance, Steve was—ironically—a highly commended murder squad detective serving with West Mercia Police. West Mercia Police claimed there was “no causal link” between its officers’ actions in dealing with Reynolds in 2008 and Georgia’s murder five years later. Currently three West Mercia police officers and a civilian staff member face misconduct hearings over the botched 2008 investigation. In this powerful moving memoir Lynnette and Steve expose the many failures that let Reynolds infiltrate their daughter's life and allowed him to kill.

Who was Georgia Williams?

Georgia Williams was 17 when she was murdered by a friend called Jamie Reynolds. This book was written by Georgia’s mother, who offers a very unique perspective into the aftermath of losing a child in such a horrific way and her families battle for justice. It is a heart wrenching memoir which is bound to shake any human being. To lose a child is a loss which can never be compensated, but to lose one in such a horrific way is indescribable. While reading the book, one can well understand the pain Georgia's family and close ones had gone through when she was brutally murdered. The knowledge that psychopaths like Jamie exist amongst us can make anyone feel unsafe. Steve Georgia’s dad was a highly commended murder squad detective serving with West Mercia Police and after Georgias death it became obvious things did not add up as the case unraveled. Both Steve and Lynn began to question the events that led up to their daughter’s death. Very early on they found out that Jamie was obsessed with Snuff movies especially if hanging was involved. Sadly, this was how he had killed Georgia. Lynn and Steve found out that Renolds had been in the system years before he murdered Georgia when he loured a girl in his class to his house and tried to strangle her but she got away. Overall, this book is very emotionally charged (as well it should be) and written from the family's perspective on how devastating a murder is to those who remain. Two years later when he rammed a colleague’s car after she spurned his advances, police wrote it up as a traffic accident. Steve and Lynnette fought for two inquiries which uncovered a litany of failures by police, social services and mental health teams.

It depicted the victim as a willing participant but that element, Mr Crigman said, could not have been further from the truth. Police were called and Reynolds was arrested. He told police he was suffering from depression and was given a final warning and counselling. Our Georgia, by Lynnette Williams with Robin Eveleigh, is a book powerful about a murder and the devastation it caused a family, as well as a call to action for police reform, both at their local department and in general. That said, there are things about the writing and analysis that kept it from being as good as it could have been for me. In May, Miss Williams accepted Reynolds' invitation to take part in a photo-shoot at his parents' house while they were holidaying in Italy. Part memoir, part true crime, Our Georgia - The Devastating Murder of My Daughter By a Killer Who Should've Been Stopped by Lynnette Williams and journalist Robin Eveleigh is one of those books that's hard to put down.

Furthermore, Williams’ writing style is both engaging and heart-wrenching. She doesn’t sugar-coat her experiences or emotions and instead presents a raw and authentic account of the tragedy. Readers will feel as though they are right there with her through each step of her journey and will have a newfound appreciation for her bravery and strength. This is made even more profound given that her husband was a serving police officer at the time of Georgia’s murder. We still have nightmares,” says Lynnette. “One of us will wake the other up at night screaming. We help each other through them. I relive the day as soon as I wake up or when I try to sleep. I feel drained most of the time, it’s on your mind constantly. It never goes away.” Her father later told the court that he and Miss Williams' mother would carry the scars of the memory of seeing their daughter's body, as it lay in the hospital's chapel of rest, “from here to eternity”. Then you watch TV and some child’s been killed because a social worker didn’t do their job, or the Met police don’t deal with one of their own properly and he goes on to kill, and it makes you so angry.”The Georgia Williams Trust, which funds sports, music and outdoor adventures for young people, is still going strong. Sadly, it turns out to be a very sad story that could have been avoided as Lynn exposes a system with so many failures, into not only the police taking their eye of Renolds when he was younger and committed his first crime, but also the miss communication between psychiatrists and psychologists that warned agencies including the police that this young man was very dangerous. Georgia's father, Detective Constable Steve Williams, her mother, Lynette, and sister, Scarlett, left the court as Crigman detailed how she was murdered in May.
