Here, you can read everything worth knowing about the new Fenix 6 top models by Garmin. Read about the changes from the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, for example, and get to know all the differences!

The experience of viewing these maps feels nearly identical, though you do have that added touchscreen functionality with the 7 series to scroll through maps. You still need to use the buttons to zoom into sections of the map. Different watches in the Fenix 6 and 7 lines carry different price tags, with the basic models costing less than those with Sapphire crystal or Power Glass. However, all new Fenix 7 watches are more expensive than their older counterparts. It doesn’t stop there though. You can head into the Garmin Connect app and toggle two user preferences: how good you are at hills and what level of positive and negative split you’re aiming for. We've run with the 6 Pro Solar and the 7X, and we found less GPS wandering when using the multi-band GNSS in built-up areas, which is a benefit everyone can enjoy. The Garmin Fenix 6 comes in three sizes, from 42mm to 52mm in diameter (Image credit: TechRadar) Garmin Fenix 6 price and release dateWe'd say the big reason to go for the Fenix 7 here is the multi-band GNSS support, which seems like the only feature unlikely to make an appearance on the Fenix 6. It makes a real-world difference, especially for those that spend time running in built-up areas that want the best accuracy. On a run, it typically goes up and down, so that it can be hard to keep the same pace throughout the distance. Some kilometers will be faster (downhill) and some kilometers will be slower (uphill). PacePro calculates the altitude profile of the route and tells you exactly how fast you should be running each section of the route to reach your goal. The GPS mode is, for example, doubled from the Fenix 5/5S Plus to the Fenix 6/6S. Garmin Fenix 6 also has a completely new Power Manager that tells you how much battery life is left, among other things – and this is noticeably in HOURS rather than PERCENTAGE. Power Manager also makes it super easy to change from different Power Modes, so that you can control its battery use and save power when you do not need all the functions of the watch.

But the Fenix 7 series additionally offers a new Up Ahead feature, to let you see key points of interest ahead of you in routes, which you don't get on the Fenix 6.

Straight out of the box the Garmin looks fantastic. The design of the watch is sleek and modern. It has a very appealing slightly utilitarian look. There is a slight factory and rubber smell when you first open the box but that completely goes away after about a day or so. There is a USB charger, the user manual and safety information included in the box.

As a new feature, this wrist-based monitor also works under water – so now you can use it for swimming as well! There's notification support across the board for iOS and Android users with the latter having the ability to respond to some notifications too. Then there are the lenses, which may be a big deal for you if you're concerned about more rugged screen protection and solar features on board. The 6 series is offered with Corning's Gorilla Glass DX, you can step up to one with Sapphire crystal, and then you also have Garmin's Power Glass lens, which adds those extra solar powers to give battery life a boost.
