Archangelica, a variety of Norwegian angelica helpto define this floral gin with notes of white pepper & menthol. 57% Smooth, complex and well balanced, with a cranberry start followed by a warm spiciness that truly brings the taste of Christmas. 29% Juniper and pine based gin, balanced with sweet orange peel and Douglas fir, complemented by lavender and angelica bringing sweet flavour and floral lightness. 46% Sweet with subtle salinity, capturing ingredients from the Scottish coast, including seaweed, ground ivy, gorse flowers and scurvy grass. 43% Clean and Gentle taste of rhubarb, juniper berries and citrus peel with gentle herbaceous notes and a floral finish. 40.5%A handcrafted organic wheat gin, pot distilled & oak matured to produce notes of spices, citrus & coriander. 40% A fresh burst of citrus & herbs with a slight hum of pepper are accompanied by notes of lemongrass. 42% On proper tasting, I found Shortcross to be beautifully complex gin, with plenty of juniper and citrus. I think the local botanicals are contributing to the floral notes too, and there was a light peppery taste that lingered. Very nice all round. Serve with plenty ice and that good tonic!

Yarra Valley Shiraz grapes are steeped in high proof rare gin for 8 weeks to produce this sweet spirit with notes of juniper & spice. 37.8% With double the quantity of botanicals as regular Elephant, sweet orange & mountain pine rise up alongside citrus and peppercorn notes. 57%A bright blue Portuguese gin, which turns pink with tonic Strawberry & raspberry give a fruity aroma & citrus taste. 40%

Shortcross Gin was a bit of a revelation for me on my trip. I’d never tried it before and I’ll confess that, on first taste, I wasn’t actually a fan. By the end of my trip I was converted – this is a very fine gin indeed, and a bottle even found its way home with me in my suitcase my conversion was so complete!Refreshing and Rich, with peppery, subtly oily complimented by exotic kaffir lime leaf Orange & Lime. 42% To taste, that juniper is really apparent. As a believer that juniper is “no bad thing” in a true gin (some might say imperative despite recent trends…), I’m glad. It’s got citrus showing through too though. At a 46% bottling, it’s a robust gin that tastes as a gin should. Give it a try and you’ll be able to tell why it’s a gin that gets replaced when it’s running empty on my own gin shelf (in fact, I’ve got two bottles of it at present just in case).
