The Sirona Z is both rearward facing and forward facing but as it is an i-Size car seat, your baby must stay rearward facing until at least 15 months of age. It's alsoequipped with Driving Direction Control D.D.C, which prevents any misuse of the forward-facing position. In reality, this means it will not allow the seat to fully rotate forward until the harness is set to a minimum of 76cm (the approx height of a 15-month-old). i-Size includes a side impact test to ensure that the seats provide better protection from side impacts.

The Sirona Z cannot be used without a car seat base, unlike the Cloud Z car seat which can be fitted with a seat belt (although this means it’s not i-size compliant). One of the reasons Cloud Z is so popular is due to its unique ergonomic lie-flat position that can be used outside of the car. This allows you to lay your baby flat on a pushchair chassis without the need for a carrycot. As safety features are obviously the most important feature of any car seat, these car seats have plenty. A difference in the two seats is that the SX2 has Advanced Linear Side-impact Protection that needs popping out on the car door side. In combination with the energy-absorbing shell, it can reduce the force of a side impact collision by 25%! Similarly to Cloud Z, the Cybex Sirona Z2 comes under the R129 i-Size regulation, so is also tested to the latest standards and features the Linear Side-impact Protection System. The dimensions are not that helpful as they tend to measure the seat when it's sat flat and sometimes when it's forward facing so it doesn't give you a very good idea of how much space it takes up in the car. Having the spin feature means that you can move from rear to forward facing easily too. On the previous model, there was Driving Direction Control which prevented misuse of the seat and forward facing too soon. Cybex have now passed this over to the parent to decide when to forward face, within the regulation advice. UK law dictates that all children must travel in an appropriately sized car seat until they are 135cm tall or 12-years-old, whichever comes first. The Sirona S2 has a different integrated L.S.P. System that you don't need to pop out. It also works in combination with the energy-absorbing shell to reduce the force of a side impact. The baby or child's height is used to determine if the seat fits the child, rather than their weight.
