About this deal

I’m very careful not to contaminate plastic and rubber trim with wax – so much that I often apply masking tape to the trim to help keep wax off. However, you always have an accident or two. I noticed the Collinite 845 did not make the trim chalky and cloudy where I screwed up and touched the plastic. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t recommend you carelessly spread it over everything. It’s not sun tan lotion. What I like most about this product is that you can use it as a single last stage protection product or as a top. You can have it as a drying agent as well, which means you get a top-up application as you dry, assuming it’s already on the car. Hard waxes are used at a slower rate than liquid treatments. We took this into account when factoring in cost, although this played a relatively small role in the verdict. None of the prices here includes delivery costs. Verdict

Much like we’ve discussed the importance of adding a layer of protection to the bodywork of the car, it’s also important to protect the wheels. Now that you're familiar with Collinite's No. 845 Liquid Insulator Wax, let's dive into the basic products necessary to ensure you get the best performance and durability out of the wax. I need my car wax to last, look good and also bead like crazy. The latter is not all that important for some, but I simply love those beading shots when the rain has been coming down. Cleaning grubby wheels is one of the toughest valeting jobs, so why not make it easy on yourself by using a polish? The 915 has more carnauba wax in the formula, and its finishing result is a warmer shine, and it is slightly easier to work with.No car wax test would be complete without taking into account the final looks. It’s no different with this Collinite 845 review. Having said that, keep in mind I’m applying the wax on perfectly plain white paint – no mica, flakes or pearl white. It’s kind of hard to get good depth with white like you can with darker, deeper colors. Nonetheless, Collinite Insulator Wax 845 did help achieve more luster and shimmer than the Wolfgang paint sealer alone could. Polymer sealers are notorious for protection and durability but usually don’t look as good as carnauba wax. Collinite’s carnuaba definitely added depth. This wax however is not a strict show car type carnauba where the ultimate goal is looks. Collinite 845 is aimed to strike a balance between good looks and protection. A little bit goes a long way. I used your basic round, yellow foam applicator pad and it worked just fine.

Collinite 845 Insulator wax leaves an almost indestructible coating which even outlasts most sealants as well as 99% of other wax's. A single application can last up to 12 months while remaining detergent proof. 845 Insulator wax offers exceptional wet high gloss finish for cars, wheels, boats, wood, tiles and even your shower! Due to its high temperature resistance it also serves as a great wheel sealant, helping repel brake dust. In terms of application, the wax goes onto the paint like an absolute dream. You need to make you sure you apply it thinly and then remove pretty much straight away as it can become grabby if you leave it to cure for too long. I find that once you’ve worked around the car, it’s about ready to buff as you finish. Why should I use it? To protect your car's paint with a durable carnauba/polymer blended wax while also creating and maintaining a high gloss finish. From the manufacturer A user-friendlier version of the No. 476s paste, No. 845 stands as Collinite's most legendary product to date. Famous for its versatility, durability and DIY ease of use, "IW" is ideal for both small and large surface area jobs where lasting protection and timely job completion are desired, but hard buffing and frequent reapplication are not practical. Leaves behind carnauba shine and durable polymer coating that preserves finish and shields against the elements; UV, rain, snow, salt, dust, dirt, grime, bugs, staining and more.. Review I've never used this wax before. In the year 2021, when I tell people this and they know how long I've been detailing cars, they are surprised because this product has a loyal and strong following. And the reason it has a loyal and strong following is real simple, it's a really nice wax. I say this from the application, wipe-off and end-results point-of-view. This car I applied it to has left the building and went home with the owner so I can't talk about longevity and protection. OK then. I spread it out over the applicator with my gloved fingers and proceed to apply over, you guessed it, the hood. (The bonnet, for my British friends). To conclude the RallyWays Collinite 845 review – The bottom line is the wax is good and I highly recommend it. I would definitely buy it again. Not to mention, the price is right. The wax does not smell fun, is clumpy and takes a lot of mixing to smooth out. But, once you get past that, it’s really easy to apply and actually pleasant to work with. The fact that it spreads really easily also means you need to use less of it and therefore one bottle will last you longer than other waxes. Removing the residue is a straightforward process with a good balance of toughness and ease. It’s also pretty safe on non-painted areas if you screw up and touch them. That pretty much sums it up. I’d recommend you give it a try too. To apply by machine: work at a low speed with no pressure since you are simply applying a product. Use a microfiber bonnet over a lambswool pad to remove Insulator Wax. Apply wax to one section at a time, wait 30 seconds, and then buff. Inspect paint surface. Gently run your hand over the surface. Is it smooth as glass? Do you feel bumps and rough spots? If you do, you need to clay your car: This was is very slippery to apply and it's easy to spread out to lay down a thin application and this is exactly what you want - a thin coating of wax. There are all manner of treatments around, from polishes to pastes and coatings. Which will protect and preserve your wheels? We tried 12 through the harshest winter in years to find out.

The only wax I have used previously is Sonax High Speed Spray wax so that is my point of reference. Muscle power for application and buffing was 50% of Sonax. Gloss and smoothness was noticeably more! I used Sunnyboi's technique to decant about 25% of the bottle into a dropper, well when I say dropper it is actually the bottle restaurants use to dispense ketchup! Immersed this in a mug of hot water before use via a foam applicator. Thin wax layers helped keep the lazy muscles smiling. I am confident I can do the whole car in under 30 mins with no fatigue.

It gives a deep, glossy finish to the paint and this is why it’s a game-changer for me. The looks are pretty much unrivalled and the closest link that I’ve tested is the Swissvax Best of Show, which is about 10x the price. One of the most impressive features of Collinite 845 is its longevity. You can easily get 3 to 4 months of use out of one application, with around 7 to 8 washes in that period. Apply a thin coat of 845 with foam applicator. Allow to haze, and wipe off with clean microfiber towel. Apply a second coat of 845, optimally waiting 1-12 hours between coats. Liquid Insulator Wax provides tough protection against adverse weather conditions. It makes a great “winter wax” when you want tough paint protection against road salt, snow and ice, without sacrificing shine. Collinite’s headquarters are in New York where harsh winters are the norm. They know a thing or two about durable paint protection. Collinite make their second contribution to this list with their 845 Insulator Wax voted as my best liquid wax. This is a product that I’ve been using for several years now and could easily be one of the contenders for the best value for money.

c)Any opinions on the usage of Proklear Waterless Wash Shampoo on a Car coated with Collinite 845? Will it be a good choice? My first experience with Collinite 845 would be layering it over an already cured layer of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0. The plan was to layer it on following the instructions on the bottle and after removing the residue, let it cure for 12 hours before layering again. Yes, it was an ambitious detailing project. Easy to apply, spray it - wipe it - that is it. (Hours of hard labour is converted into minutes of wiping) Oftentimes, it’s the lesser advertised products that are the best. For this reason I’ve put together this Collinite 845 review. The case in point seems to be true with Collinite 845 Liquid Insulator Wax 845 – little advertising, but tons of word of mouth.

If applying by hand, simply wipe on Liquid Insulator Wax using a poly foam applicator. It takes very little to cover each panel. Buff with a soft Microfibre Towel. You will find the wax easiest to remove if you apply a thin coat and do not let it completely haze over before buffing.
