About this deal

An accompanying animated short film, The Butterfly Ball, was made by the Halas & Batchelor company. [4] John Lawton provides one of the loveliest vocals, for the gospel-tinged ballad Little Chalk Blue, and subs for Dio on the movie’s epic-length rendition of Love Is All. Music and additional lyrics composed, written and arranged by Rod Edwards and Roger Hand; published by Wizard Music. Passionate, positive and practical, the charity team are motivated to improve the lives of the estimated 770,000 disabled children in the UK living, starting with the 400,000 living on or below the poverty line.

As Caudwell Children continues its annual growth and plans for greater expansion and development unfold, the driving inspiration for its initial formation remain as important as it did in 2000. Alan Aldridge, the seminal graphic artist who burst upon the art world in the sixties, came across it in a Victorian anthology and set to work designing illustrations inspired by Roscoe’s work. Every penny raised at the ball goes directly towards changing the lives of children and young people, giving them the opportunity for a better and brighter future, enabling them to be who they want to be. From this sprang the partnership with the late William Plomer, winner of the Queens Gold Medal for Poetry and former President of the Poetry Society, who wrote completely new verse to complement Alan Aldridge’s final total of twenty-eight illustrative plates. Setting out in Johnson’s Spinner Trains, Hot Air Balloons, stagecoaches, on wing and on foot; most arrive, but others are waylaid by adventures, as you will discover.

The Butterfly's Ball, and the Grasshopper's Feast is a poem by William Roscoe, written in 1802, and telling the story of a party for insects and other small animals. If all of that is not enough, there will be dancing into the wee small hours to the fantastic sounds of Scoonie Brae punctuated with a reviving beverage and homemade shortbread break at midnight.

We are supported by over 130 dedicated and hardworking volunteers both at the CICC and across the country. We also have a fantastic network of supporters who contribute in raising those much needed funds. The picture also features the Love Is All animated film clip as well as weird interstitial bits of performers in animal costumes strolling through London. The film climaxes with a live-action version of the ball, at which the various animal characters sit around a table in a scene straight out of Alice in Wonderland.

At this point, with the network of support associated with being a part of a multinational corporate now gone, the charity team expanded and increased the volume of community and corporate fundraising activity across the country. Eddie Hardin wrote the song Love Is All based on a song featured in The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast named Love's all you need, which was inspired by The Beatles' song All You Need Is Love (1967). The song was sung by Ronnie James Dio, although the single was credited to Glover. [1] The B-side was Old Blind Mole/Magician Moth. This generated a minor UK hit single titled Love Is All, with vocals by heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio, and plans were made for a full-length animated feature – but by the time Glover had finished writing songs for the proposed movie, production was cancelled. Breaking Glass (1980) Singer Kate (Hazel O'Connor) claws her way into the charts, with help from spiv manager-cum-lover Danny (Phil Daniels), only to…
