About this deal

Completing the Barefoot selection of types of wines, our vibrant roses look eye-catching and taste delightful; if subtle, sweet and succulent are your go-to preferences, think pink. We’ve got four different kinds of rose, including our lively sparkling Pink Moscato. Extra Dry Champagne isn’t dramatically different from Brut in terms of sweetness. Technically, Extra Dry can be slightly sweeter, but the difference is small and if you’re not a major Champagne aficionado I doubt you would notice. However, in terns of Barefoot Bubbly, I found this one more enjoyable than the Brut. You may notice that Barefoot Bubbly is labeled as “Champagne,” and you may wonder, “Can they do that, I thought Champagne could only come from France?” Yes, it’s true that the term “Champagne” is legally reserved for wines from the Champagne region of France. But, many US-made sparkling wines were using the term before the decision was made to no longer use it on US-made wines. Those wines labeled as “Champagne” before 2006 were “grandfathered” in to allow them to continue using that descriptor as long as the region of production is also on the label (e.g. California). Barefoot Moscato is made in California by our award-winning winemaker Jen Wall. Our wines carry the honour of being the most-awarded still and sparkling wines in U.S. competitions. All said, the wines have received more than 2,000 medals, countless accolades, and – best of all – the support of legions of fans around the world. The sugar converts to alcohol and carbon dioxide during this process, typically leaving dry wine. To keep it sweet, Jen combines cool temperatures, modern technology, and a careful process to ensure that some sugars remain for the semi-sweet Moscato. Voila!

Take our very beginnings in 1965, when California winemaker Davis Bynum first created Barefoot Bynum Burgundy in his garage. The unconventional name referred to – what else? – the free-spirited method of crushing grapes barefoot. So, how does Moscato get its fizzy texture? Unlike most wines, Moscato is bottled with a bit of carbon dioxide to produce some of the bubbles. The carbon dioxide helps to ensure not all of the sugar converts to alcohol, giving it the sweet flavour.

IS MOSCATO A DESSERT WINE?

If you’re looking to dip your toe in the pool of sparkling Moscato, then treat yourself to our delicious Bubbly Pink Moscato. With notes of berries, cherries, apples and more, it’s the perfect drink for raising a glass in celebration! It shows floral and mineral notes on the nose. There are not many bubbles in the glass, but it bubbles up in your mouth quite a bit. The palate doesn’t offer much complexity, but it’s still enjoyable with tasty apple flavors and decent acidity. It’s slightly yeasty on the finish. Sparkling Moscato is made from Muscat Blanc grapes. This style is originally from the province of Asti, Italy, so naturally it’s called Moscato d’Asti. This sweet frizzante bubbly wine has high aromatics and light or low alcohol level.

Muscat grapes are grown throughout the world, but specific wines often use grapes from specific areas. Moscato d’Asti is named after Muscat grapes, with origins to the Italian town of Asti. The Muscat grape’s high sugar content gives a Moscato wine its sweetness. The Muscat grapes, Muscat of Alexandria, or Orange Muscat, are also used in red wines and fortified wines, like sherry. Though Moscato is often sweet, its refreshing taste profile makes Moscato more than just a dessert wine. That’s why a dessert Moscato exists! There are 3 major Moscato wine types: sparkling Moscato d’asti, still Moscato, and dessert Moscato. Which is the best depends on the pairings and when you’re drinking it. If you’re looking for the best Moscato and cheese pairing, then you want to go with creamier cheeses. Be sure to avoid sharp flavours because they could overpower the Moscato. Of course, we couldn’t do any of these things without you, our Barefoot fans. Together, we’ve been able to get Barefoot and have a great time leaving our footprint in communities far and wide. We think wine should be all-inclusive.

WHAT KIND OF CHEESE GOES WITH MOSCATO WINE?

When dinner’s afoot and you’re in the mood for a delicious vanilla ice cream or a delectable fruit salad, what wine do you grab? A Barefoot Moscato, of course! Because Moscato wines tend to be on the sweet side, with hints of peach, apricot, and nectarine, they pair well with brie, gorgonzola, and soft goat cheese. At Barefoot, we believe no one should be judged by the colour of their favorite grape. In fact, we pride ourselves on making wines free from the tyranny of all wine snobbery. Everyone has the right to get Barefoot and have a great time – however they choose! We extend inclusivity to wine lovers everywhere, no matter who they are or whom they love. Whether it’s toasting same-sex marriage on top of a giant wedding cake, dancing our hearts out at PRIDE festivals, or partnering with over 100 different LGBTQ groups, we proudly celebrate diversity. At the end of day, it’s all abouthaving fun & staying quirky.

In most cases Moscato wine is a sweeter white wine made from Muscat Blanc grapes. Its light feel and refreshing flavour profile makes Moscato more than just a dessert wine though. They’re refreshing enough to be consumed at during a BBQ or dinner with friends. This is another one that had me really curious… what would Barefoot do with a Sparkling Moscato, I wondered. And then, when I saw that the alcohol level is only 8.5%, I was scared that it was going to be overwhelmingly sweet. But I was pleasantly surprised. We achieved another milestone in 2005, when we became part of E. & J. Gallo Winery and took our Barefoot Wine & Bubbly collection to six continents around the world. This global footprint (pun intended) has helped make us one of the world’s most recognised wine brands.

A still Moscato is made from Muscat Blanc or Moscatel grapes with an alcohol content higher than most Moscatos. Barefoot’s Moscato and Pink Moscato are examples of still Moscato wines. I tried and tried to pull something out of this, but the nose is virtually non-existent in this wine, except for a very, very slight peach aroma. The palate is also light. It’s mildly sweet, with soft peach and strawberry flavors. The finish is crisp, tangy and enjoyable, although rather short. If you like sweet, light sparklers, it’s an enjoyable wine, but as I said, the intensity is subtle. There’s nothing extraordinary about it, but it’s good.

ARE PINK MOSCATO AND ROSÉ THE SAME?

Come and join the Barefoot family - with over ten different types of wines and flavours available, we’ve got a tipple to suit all tastes! Our tasty and tempting range of wine covers white, red and pink. Plus, if you’re feeling in the mood for a touch of fizz and sparkle, we’ve got a delicious bubbly too in the shape of our Barefoot Bubbly Pink Moscato. Big birthday, special anniversary, new job celebration, a family get together or an evening with friends - there’s always a good time to pop open a bottle of bubbly, isn’t there? (I will need to run this one by compliance) Sometimes, you don’t even need a reason at all! Uncork it carefully, listen to that glorious pop and fizz, pour into flutes, and raise a toast before taking that first, gorgeous sip. Fan-bubbly-tastic! Jen’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Her wines carry the honor of being the most-awarded still and sparkling wines in U.S. competitions. All said, the wines have received over 2,000 medals, countless accolades, and – best of all – the support of legions of fans around the world. When it comes to pairing Moscato with foods, you need to remember that its flavours are sweet with hints of orange blossom, peach, and other fruit flavours. It’s better paired with creamy desserts and fruit tarts. Moscato tastes great with caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, or coconut flavours, too. Don’t sip it with chocolate, though — the flavours are likely too rich to pair well with the wine. This is where we start to get into the unique stuff from Barefoot Bubbly. It’s not every day that I come across a bubbly Pinot Grigio, so I was really curious to taste this one.
