About this deal

To answer this question, we can be very short, no, you don’t need gloves to work with Apoxie Sculpt.

Sanding can be incredibly useful to apply fine details and a professional finish, but some materials really don’t like to be sanded, is this the case with Apoxie Sculpt, or can it be sanded at will? Harsdorf, John. “Aves Apoxie Sculpt Beginner’s Guide – Aves: Maker of Fine Clays and Maches, Apoxie Sculpt, Epoxy Putty and More.” Aves, 7 June 2017, avesstudio.com/2016/12/aves-apoxie-sculpt-beginners-guide/. It gives us the freedom to combine our resin models with the Apoxie Sculpt to add fine details, or to revolutionize the design altogether!Although Apoxie Sculpt is non-toxic, allergic reactions are still very much possible, if you experience any pain or other allergic symptoms on your hands, it’s recommended to wear gloves! A Death Guard Chaos Space Marine based on a Primaris Space Marine, with extensive sculpting work done with green stuff and Milliput to modify the armour to look like MKIII Iron armour. Apoxie Sculpt is a two-part epoxy kneadable paste, with the properties of a modeling compound and excellent adhesion on different surfaces. Waterproof and with 0% shrinkage. Can be worked seamlessly before curing and after curing by sanding, drilling, tapping, grinding, cutting, turning, etc. Save time and money on finishing by working with the Apoxie Sculpt colors. Easy to clean with soap and water. Apoxie® Sculpt is ready to use; working time is 1- 3 hours. Shape as desired. Smooth or texture with a wet finger, brush, Q-tip or sculpting tool. Self-hardens (NO BAKING); 24 hour full cure.

Each of the modeling putties described above have their own unique characteristics that lend themselves to different applications when sculpting. By mixing two different epoxy putties together, you can create a hybrid putty that has characteristics of both. For instance, if you mix equal parts green stuff and Apoxie sculpt you get a putty that handles similarly to greenstuff but has the hardness of Apoxie Sculpt after curing. You can combine green stuff and Milliput to get a similar effect. In terms of applications, green stuff is a versatile modeling putty that can be used for anything from gap filling to sculpting entire miniatures. When mixed, green stuff has a rubbery/elastic texture that holds an edge nicely and works well for sculpting small details. Unlike some other sculpting putties, green stuff is not water soluble, meaning water is a great lubricant for your tools. If you are sculpting without a frame or armature to stabilize your work, green stuff has a tendency to droop. Because of this, it can be a challenge to sculpt thin, wispy details (like the edge of a cloak) and get them to maintain the orientation you want, without them starting to sag. However, even with this small disadvantage, green stuff is probably the best sculpting material for such details, as it maintains a flexible and rubbery texture after curing, meaning thin details are more likely to flex than to break.

A good idea for any left over mixed Apoxie Sculpt is to start a journal cover or decorate a box top with it – you’d be surprised how much you over mix and how creative you can be with your left overs! With absolutely no shrinkage Apoxie Sculpt adheres to any clean surface. It is perfect for sculpting, taxidermy finish work, repairing shrunken areas and wood carving repairs. The durable flat finish makes repairs and painting easier with any kind of paint. What is Apoxie Sculpt? Apoxie Sculpt is a mixture between regular Polymer Clay and Epoxy Resin, it combines the best properties of these two to create the perfect substance to use to create our electroforming base piece. Adheres to: Itself (in any stage of set-up before or after curing), other epoxies, Ceramic, Metal, Wood, Stone, Glass, Plastics, Foam, Fiberglass, Polymers, & more! Like everything else in this hobby, whether painting or just assembling models, the more time you spend sculpting, the better you will get at it. No one wins a Slayer Sword at a Golden Daemon painting competition with their first model. They spend hundreds of hours practicing and honing their craft. Sculpting is no different. Your success will be proportional to how much time you invest in it. There is no substitute to spending time with sculpting. You need to practice and experiment, all the while trying to push yourself with each new project.
