About this deal

Firstly, an explanation as to what uPVC actually means. PVC is an abbreviation for ‘polyvinyl chloride’ and ‘u’ is an abbreviation for ‘unplasticised.’ Therefore uPVC means the material is unplasticised polyvinyl chloride. If you require thin plastic strip take a look at our range and see if we have a suitable size. It is possible for us to manufacture thin strips of plastic to other specifications but this would be custom production so is subject to much larger production runs, normally around 2000 metres. The minimum production runs would vary depending on the size of the profile and can be quoted upon request. uPVC strips - an explanation As we have so many shapes and sizes, we wrote a blog on how to choose the correct plastic profile for your project. We wrote this blog specifically for our plastic angles, but most of the blog also applies to plastic U channels.

Spacers and gap fillers, as the plastic strips can sit between two edges or slide underneath an edge to fill a gap. There are quite a few reasons why we think you should use MKM Extrusions as your supplier of PVC channel. We are an experienced plastic extrusion manufacturer based in Britain and have been trading since 1983. We have held both Quality and Environmental accreditations for many years. We only sell direct to customers and do not have any suppliers or distributors, which means that our prices are very competitive. We manufacture plastic extrusions 24 hours a day during the week which means our delivery times are fast. We have customers from almost every sector who use our right angle PVC trim, our range of customers is very broad. Sectors that use our plastic angle trim include fitout, construction, signage, builders, architects, hoardings, film studios, refrigerated vehicles and shopfitting to name but a few. Typically it is used as corner trim and corner protection because the angle of the trim is 90 degrees so the trim works well on corners and edges. But it can also offer many other solutions. Using a plastic angle as a corner trim Most of our flat plastic strips have square edges, but we also have a few sizes with round edges. This means that two of the edges of the plastic strips are slightly rounded. Square edge plastic stripsWe have been accredited with the British Environmental Standard ISO 14001 for nearly 20 years which means that our PVC channels are manufactured following an environmental management system. Every year our environmental management system is thoroughly audited by an external company, which includes our waste management and internal recycling processes, our impact on the environment, storage of raw materials and finished products, energy consumption and waste management. We have always taken our environmental responsibilities very seriously. The plastic we use for our plastic angle trims is an external grade rigid PVC which means our plastic angles are suitable for using outdoors as well as indoors. This type of plastic is also known generally as uPVC, even though uPVC actually is a different type of material. Our product is also often referred to as uPVC angle trim. How to fix a Plastic angle trim Plastic U channel trim is one of our most popular extruded PVC profiles. U shaped plastic trim is used in many different applications across a wide range of industries. The reason it is often called U channel is because it has three sides and is a similar shape to the letter U. However the three sides on the plastic channel are straight with ninety-degree right angles, there are no curves. Plastic U channel has one open side which allows a board or panel to be inserted. Among other sizes, it is available in 5mm, 8mm, 10mm, 20mm, 25mm and 50mm. You are very welcome to request samples of PVC strip if you are unsure about exactly which plastic flat strip you need. You may wish to see the colour, the different type of material, the width or the edge style.

Plastic angle trim is manufactured by an extrusion process. Raw materials in the form of compound are fed into an extruder machine. The compound is heated and the molten polymer is pushed through a die. The die is a tool used in manufacturing to form material to a desired shape of the plastic trim. In this case the shape is a 90-degree L shape angle. The plastic profile is held in shape by formers and goes through water baths as part of the cooling process. The plastic angle trim then hardens upon cooling. The PVC we use for our rigid plastic angle trims This white corner trim is used by many different sectors on both internal and external corners. White corner trim can provide edge and corner protection, as well as being a solution to hiding damaged or uneven surfaces. The most likely match for someone searching for plastic channel edging is what we call Plastic Channels. These edging profiles are similar in shape to Plastic Angle Trim, but they have an extra leg, with both legs being equal in length. Plastic channel edging is sometimes referred to as U Channel which reflects the shape of this profile. Plastic angle edge trim Our plastic PVC angle trim is priced competitively on a like for like basis, for exactly the same product made with the same standard of quality. Plastic edging is available in several different designs. This includes flat bar strips, plastic lipping, plastic channels, plastic angle trim, plastic J channels and capping. Manufacturing T section

Our plastic strips are manufactured from uPVC although it is important to point out the difference between the plastic material we use and the plastic material used by the double-glazing and widow industries. In those industries, additional stabilisers are often added to the uPVC, whereas our material is standard uPVC. You are very welcome to get in touch if you require samples of PVC channel to help you decide which size of PVC U channel trim is suitable for you. Plastic U channel trim – available colours

The reason this profile is called T section is because it looks like the capital letter T. The first measurement of the T section trim is the external width of the top. The smallest in the range is 13mm and the largest is 100mm. The second measurement is the straight stem which starts from midway along the top of the profile. The length of this stem varies between 8mm and 50mm. Plastic T section has a flat top with straight edges and smooth legs.
