About this deal

TheV847-C isan evolution of the classicVoxwah pedal. With specs that adhere closely to the original 1960s formula, the V847-C has a number of modern-day refinements that help it to successfully bringthat distinctive wahtone into the 21st Century. Deliveringa cutting-edgesound with exceptionalpresence and a wide sweep, theVox V847-C will make anything from chords to solos stand out clearly in even the busiest ofband mixes. Contemporary Customisations

True bypass circuitry is becoming a standard feature among today's pedals, which is why Vox has integrated this into the design ofits V847-C wah pedal. Thismeans that your guitar'ssignal does not pass through the circuit when the unit is switched off, ensuring that its tonal character is unaffected and not subject to colouration. Made in JapanThis apparent magnitude of the cap C2 reactance magnitude depends on the gain of the signal of the first stage. The gain of the first stage is determined by the position of the slider VR1: Even though Thomas Organ ended Vox amplifier production in 1972, they continued to produce Vox wah and Crybaby pedals throughout the seventies. While some wah pedals were produced for Thomas by JEN in Italy, many others were produced at the Thomas Organ facilities in Sepulveda CA. If you're keen on saving pedalboard space, you may prefer a combined wah and volume pedals, as these offer both types of effects in a single pedal. The Hotone Soul Press is a prime example of this kind of combi pedal.

Given the relatively simple nature of the wah effect, there’s a dazzling array of options available when it comes to the best wah pedals. Yet, although the mechanics of wahs have remained largely unchanged over the years, recent times have seen the bulky, weighty enclosure trimmed down to produce a number of mini guitar effects pedal formats. The frequency range of the wah (frequencies in which the wah can be varied) has been set lower, with the gain boosted and the Q-value (the sharpness of the wah’s peak) adjusted to deliver a powerful sound with a low centre of gravity. The V845 is smaller than many other stompbox pedals. For comparison, I wear US women’s size 10 (men’s size 8) shoes. The pedal has been designed with true bypass which lets the signal bypass the circuit when switched off so that the true tone passes through unaffected.Connecting a complementary reactance (inductor L 1) will produce a resonant circuit which is adjusted by tuning the apparent capacitance of C 2. The 33K resistor R7 is introduced to adjust this value, allowing surrounding resonant frequencies to be amplified too. In other words, R7 sets the sharpness of the resonant peak. In the graph above, the effect of the R7 is shown, increasing its value, the Q factor is reduced, and the filter bell is spread. This modification is also known as “Vocal Mod”, some users replace the 33K for a bigger one like 39K, 68K or even 100K to have more vocal sounding. 6.2. Modifying the Sweep Range. Finally, while the V846-HW and V847-C are true bypass, the V845 and the V847A (like all buffered pedals) are not. This means that your guitar signal is still filtered through your pedal’s circuit – even when it’s switched off. After I turn off my V845, I often notice a decrease in volume and some slight distortion, especially on my bass notes. Final thoughts Everything with a DC resistance between 10 to 100 Ω(15 Ω typ.), and inductance (if you can measure it) between 200mH to 1H (500mH typ.) can be used. 7. Resources.

Features

The aim was to produce a wah pedal that was perfect for themodern guitarist. Char's influence on this Vox Wah delivers a 1960s influenced effect with modern customisations. Vox V847-C Custom Wah Wah Pedal Features: The input impedance has been adjusted to make the sound not merely more powerful but also tastefully warm. There are several options in the market: The Dunlop Yellow/Red Fasel, TDK, Sabbadius Soul Inductor, Coloursound Inductor, Wipple inductor, SOD inductors, miniature audio transformers and coils from industrial filters. Wah purists will swear by pedals equipped with an inductor, which were commonly found in vintage models and come in three main variations: Halo, as found in the Hendrix and Clapton-used 1966 Vox Clyde McCoy wah; red fasel, which crops up in a number of Cry Baby variants; and yellow fasel, which you’ll find in other vintage-voiced designs. Bigger values move it down towards bass, smaller values move it up. Bass players like to increase the value (typically 0.068µF) for a better bass wah response. 6.3 More Bass and Gain Modification.
