It’s facings provide some protection from the wind and coupled to the B26 spirit burner you can in fact still use the simmer ring to a reasonable extend. Excellent build, folds super flat and is basically a no brainer to anyone owning a trangia, especially since it makes any setup a double burner solution while adding barely any weight nor bulk. Your mileage will vary, but in the real world, that’s how it works for me. What fuel does a Trangia use The wind is the enemy of such alcohol burners. You need to use a wind screen that wraps around the burner and the pot. That way you ensure that the flame is centered at the bottom of the pot. Another detail is that, depending on the environment temperature, once the alcohol is boiling inside the burner, the simmer ring is not airtight, therefore, the alcohol vapor will escape by any path and will continue to burn around the burner uncontrollably. Under these conditions, it is advisable to add a little water (a teaspoon or less) to the alcohol in the burner to waste energy producing water vapor that is not combustible and reduce the amount of alcohol vapor by cooling it a little. A ratio of 85% alcohol in water will work (try your own). As is well known, water is corrosive. It is advisable to dry the burner well when not in use.

If you have a pot that is less than 10cm in diameter, it will not fit on the pot stands. This is a real problem for most titanium mugs that are popular as pots. Mine falls though. If there are 2 of us, and a cooked breakfast is involved, as well as a proper evening meal, I will take 1/2 a litre of fuel. My next stove of which perhaps I will get next month will be a Stainless 'Wild Woodgas' stove so in terms of fuel I can use contained woody material to create flammable gas as fuel or I could use my Trangia meths burner in it, as my outdoor cooking needs have changed. I tried twice to use the cap to create a smaller flame but unless it was nearly completely open, the flame would go out moments after I put my saucepan on.

The MSR is just a multi liquid fuel blow torch albeit a well designed and built reliable blow torch applied to the bottom of the pan and minorly the sides, but one still has to carry pans and a windbreak. I was really excited since I was looking for something lite and i heard Trangia stoves are classic. Saw quite a few Youtube videos with exactly the same setup that I have, seemed all to work perfectly.

The Triangle was not available, but now, in 2022, it has become available again in a slightly different design. It looks a bit better, but there was never a problem with the older one. It is rumoured that they discontinued it because of a patent or some such infringement.

But for an overnighter, the 250ml bottle that you can buy meths in works well and is a good amount for 2 people and 24 hours. The pot problem So, the flames were to high for me to use the cap to put it out and I couldn't move my saucepan. I had to let it burn to the end each time. Maybe there's a problem with my setup / burner or I am doing something wrong hopefully.

Bear in mind that when you buy a Trangia Triangle, it doesn’t come with a burner. To me that is an advantage as I already have 2 and don’t need to waste money on another one. They last forever. When using the windscreen like this, be sure to put the windscreen holes into the wind. Works perfectly!Assembling the Trangia Triangle is straightforward (you get a pictorial guide to show you how). You simply fit the tags through the slots in the sheets to form a triangle (hence the name…), then push fit the burner support ring into the slots in the middle of each sheet.
