About this deal

It’s not the heat, although that is perfect, it’s the intimacy, the connection and the feeling this amazing story brought to my heart…. I never did IVF but I didn’t have a child until adoption after 16 years of marriage and the next child was a miracle and a surprise pregnancy. There’s Roo, Ellie’s hopeless next-door-neighbour and new friend. Roo has started seeing the perfect guy – handsome, funny and good in bed. Except he’s married, a fact which won’t stop Roo from falling in love with him. What a soul stirring story written so beautifully and delicately! My heart feels so full, the author has a gift for telling deep, glorious stories without being heavy handed or cliche. Gideon Ellery is thirty four years old and is a corporate finance manager. He had been in a long term relationship with the man he thought he would be with forever. They owned a home together. But when he adopted his sister’s newborn baby, his partner left him. Now Gideon is facing a future without the man he loves and trying to learn to be a father to a newborn baby. He’s exhausted and with his paternity leave over, he doesn’t know how to move forward. He needs a live in nanny and the perfect person falls into their lives.

Johnny is ‘that guy’. The one with the magnetism and charm for days, everyone wants to be in his orbit. But underneath there is so much more to this enigmatic guy and he chooses Brynn, the sassy, beautiful band geek to be the one he bares his soul to. They have an instant connection, wonderful, playful banter…an enviable relationship. The story is one that is an experience, deeply moving and it left me feeling so much. I could keep telling my favorite parts and raving about this book….. I think if you enjoy emotional, smart storytelling you should dive headfirst into this amazing book. Her parents were thrilled and pretty much overnight they went from having no children to raising four little girls. Clarissa, Chloe, Amy and Heidi Jo. The first three all tan with pale blond hair. They were the closest four sisters anyone ever knew.Furthermore, I had a major issue with his first impression of Ellie - he felt "something about that girl". O.K., we all get that "something" you can't put your finger on, but for God's sakes, no writer should EVER resort to that. What did he feel exactly? WHY? If you're not gonna tell me immediately, suit yourself, do it later. But you can't go on without ever telling the reader because then we just don't CARE! Ok I really like Martha - the way she's described and the way she speaks. I'd quote her speech about how she's feeling on p 344, except spoilers. And also it would probably seem more melodramatic than real if taken out of context. But it really made me feel "this author knows something about losing someone in real life." Tony is a famous actor and Jamie's father who has long been divorced and becomes interested in Martha (God knows why. Because the author obviously doesn't.) Of course they have a wonderful HEA too, and we got to see a cameo by Henry and Reed from "The Weight of it All" which was a nice surprise.

It was just so wonderfully fluffy, sweet and adorable, and you'll fall in love with these two and little baby Benson as you read. There are so many ways to become a parent, and so many parents who struggle to get their baby. I wanted to write this book for those mothers and fathers who have had a similar road to parenthood." And as Gideon and Toby spend more and more time together - because as his nanny, Toby lives in Gideon's house - they start to fall in love with each other. Also I do wish the sex had been a little steamier. Which tends to happen with N.R. Walker books, but I'll never stop tooting this horn because no use skimping on the sex scenes. Which were good, they just weren't great. They could have been a lot steamier.

It was just as her mama had said all those years ago. The Oklahoma City tree was proof that with God, there was always a way to survive. Thank you to the author and Wordsmith Publicity for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Their attraction to each other develops slowly and they're both aware of how complicated it could get, but they eventually can't ignore their feelings anymore. I can relate to the author but I don’t see it relating the message to many kids other than beautiful illustrations and far away adventures and the mom’s love. I almost feel that the book would speak more volumes to the mother about her journey but the child will get the message in this sweet book expressing the mother’s ultimate love.

Still liking secondary story. Boy there's a hellish amount of guilt everyone's feeling in this book, for various reasons. Some a bit over the top, yet here and there it feels realish - in the sense that yes, I've known of people having to go through this. Or the parts where Ellie tries to get herself to stop crying - everyone knows the "I will now talk to myself and make myself stop crying" inner monologue thing. She nailed it with this book. I felt like I was on the rollercoaster of emotions with these two characters. 🎢 Brynn and Johnny’s teenage romance is built on real friendship shared passion and deep trust. I adore both the light, sweet moments as well as the painful, heart-rending ones. Ms Scott has very cleverly interwoven the past and present, bringing us the drama of their senior year and then where they both are ten years later.Gideon is 34 and a newly single father after his asshole ex up and left him 6 weeks ago. Six weeks have passed since then, and Gideon is now with a 3 month old newborn and is drowning doing it all on his own. He needs help. She would always be grateful to her aunt for saving them. Every item and picture mattered. They were all she had left of her old life. Before the car accident that took everyone else in her family home to heaven. Everyone but her.
